Way of the Templar is a side quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition. It is one of three potential quests that a warrior Inquisitor can complete to obtain a class specific specialization.
Construct a philter, study the methods of the templars, and Ser will reveal the secrets of this legendary specialization. Reclaim the philters of fallen templars from demons at Witchwood, West Road, and Lady Shayna's Valley in the Hinterlands. Readings can be found among the belongings of followers who share this discipline. Or, if unavailable, among the wares of the book merchant in Val Royeaux.
Acquisition[]
This quest becomes available after the Inquisitor completes the main quest From the Ashes and relocates to Skyhold. The war table operation, Specializations for the Inquisitor, will appear after leaving Skyhold for the first time and returning. Completing the operation unlocks there specialization quests.
There are three potential trainers, one for each specialization, that will arrive at Skyhold to teach a warrior Inquisitor their specialization. Conversing with Ser, the Templar trainer, will initiate the quest. For more dialogue, talk to Cullen about Templars before talking to Ser.
Walkthrough[]
The Inquisitor will need to craft the item: "Templar Lyrium Philter" via the requisition recipe received.
Everything a templar needs to craft their own infusions of lyrium—without which, of course, a templar is left without any magical ability. It is said that, over the years, a templar develops an acute addiction to lyrium, to the point that depriving them of it can drive them mad. A risk not to be taken lightly, and none do.
Gather the following materials:
Writing on Templar methods are found either on the top floor of the armory in Skyhold (the building situated slightly east of Cassandra's location) or purchased from Willvan in Val Royeaux; reading it unlocks Codex entry: Way of the Templar.
Broken Philters can be obtained by killing a pride demon, a rage demon, and terror demon in the Hinterlands: in Witchwood, the West Road, and Lady Shayna's Valley. They are accompanied by quite a few other enemies which can include terror and despair demons. They can also be looted from Red Templars in Therinfal Redoubt during the quest Champions of the Just.
Embrium can be gathered in the Hinterlands, Crestwood, the Emerald Graves and on the Exalted Plains. They typically can be found growing on flat areas of land, the nodes consist of green stalks with red flowers. Embrium can also be purchased from Village of Crestwood Merchant. Additionally, it can be obtained from the repeatable war table operation Emerald Graves Resources with Josephine or Leliana.
Craft the philter using any requisition table and return to Ser to complete the quest and learn the Templar specialization.

Notes[]
- All three specialization quests can be active at the same time and their appropriate items crafted; however, only one specialization can be chosen.
- Completing the quest will unlock the war table operation Endure once the Inquisitor reaches Influence level 8.
Trivia[]
- After choosing the specialization, Dorian will ask if the Inquisitor will join the Order. He also mentions that the Inquisitor smells different, and if in a romance with Dorian, he will say he finds it attractive.
