Warrior's Resolve is a warrior ability from the Weapon and Shield tree in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Information[]
- Stamina restored: 10% for every 10% Health lost
- Constitution on unlock: +3
Notes[]
- The calculation for Warrior's Resolve is: stamina restored = damage received (capped to current health) / max health * 100. E.g., a warrior at 500 health with a max health of 1000 receiving 900 damage will restore 50 stamina
- Despite the description mentioning "10% for every 10% Health lost", damage received and stamina restored do not need to be discrete 10% chunks, losing 5% of health to damage still results in 5 stamina gained
- Maintaining high current health increases the effectiveness of this ability because damage received is capped to the current health
- Unintuitively, lowering your max health, e.g., Sigil of the Revenant or Sigil of Lyrium, results in a higher percentage of stamina gained for the same amount of damage received
- Increasing damage received, e.g., Fade-Touched Stormheart (Berserk) or Sigil of the Tusket, or by playing on a higher difficulty (enemies deal additional damage) results in more stamina gained
- Increasing your maximum stamina, e.g., Sigil of the Great Bear, does not improve stamina gained from this ability; the calculation always assumes maximum stamina is 100
- Stamina restoration occurs even when Ring of Pain is active. Typically, sustained abilities disable passive stamina regeneration.
- As long as the Warrior is receiving damage, stamina restoration can indefinitely sustain costly abilities such as Whirlwind or Ring of Pain.
- Although placed under the Weapon and Shield tree, this ability triggers regardless of the weapon style being used.
- This ability may appear attractive to Reavers since their abilities rely on sacrificing health; however, sacrificing health does not trigger Warrior's Resolve. In addition, Reavers prefer fighting at lower health which is in contention with this ability since stamina restore is proportional to current health.
- Receiving damage through Bodyguard does not trigger Warrior's Resolve
Bugs[]
- Contrary to the description, stamina is still restored if you take damage with an active guard or barrier.
- Abilities and items which grant barrier, such as Barrier, Enhanced Amulet of Barrier or Superb Amulet of Barrier benefit Warrior's Resolve. Unlike guard, barrier does not take armor into account, potentially restoring more stamina for the same attack received to health or guard
- Abilities which grant guard, such as Fortifying Blast or En Garde, benefit Warrior's Resolve
