Background

Vigilance is the reward from Worked to the Bone. There are three unique items found throughout the land which opens a dialogue with Wade. The master smith will ask for additional ingredients (Greater Warmth balm, Grandmaster Flame rune, Diamond) to help in the creation of a masterpiece (tier 9 weapons and armor). The final item is determined by the choices made during a dialogue with the master smith.

Crafting

Unlike other crafted weapons, Master Wade uses a series of questions to assist in the customization of Vigilance. Vigilance can be either a longsword or a greatsword, however the bonuses are the same for either type of weapon.

Vigilance Base:

  • +1 to all attributes
  • +0.5 armor penetration
  • +2 attack

Balance Preference:

  • Raw power:
    • +1.5 armor penetration
    • 5 fire damage
  • Flexible:
    • +6 attack
    • 5 ice damage

Materials Preference:

  • Sharp:
    • 3% critical strike chance
    • 15% critical/backstab damage
  • Easy to swing:
    • +0.5 combat stamina/mana regen
    • +50 stamina
  • Helps defense:
    • +6 defense
    • +10% chance to dodge attacks
  • " Whatever you think is best, Wade " :
    • +3 to all attributes

Results

Because of the choices that can be made, Vigilance can have different bonuses.

For example, selecting both raw power and sharpness will result in a sword with the following qualities:

  • +1 to all attributes
  • +0.5 armor penetration
  • +2 attack
  • +1.5 armor penetration
  • +5 fire damage
  • +3% critical strike chance
  • +15% critical/backstab damage

Flexible and nimble. Raw power. An unstoppable swing.

Trivia

  • If the Warden has Wade craft Vigilance, it is mentioned in the epilogue.

Bugs

  • There is a common bug that causes this weapon to have the same appearance as Starfang. Disabling the Warden's Keep DLC may allow the weapon to display correctly. It has been suggested that the best way to avoid this bug is to disable the Soldier's Peak DLC before playing Awakening, or at the very least before attempting to create this sword through the related quest. Some players have reported that disabling the Soldier's Peak DLC after Vigilance has been created has not restored the proper model for this weapon.
  • There is another bug regarding the orientation/animation of the weapon as it is swung. It is unknown whether this is intentional or an oversight. This behavior is specific to the Greatsword version of this weapon - the Longsword version of Vigilance is not affected.
