The Veridium Mine is an elven ruin[1] in the Dales. It is unknown if the elves of old used it as a mine or for other purposes, but by 9:42 Dragon the ruin was used to mine veridium, and more recently as a military base.

Background

The Veridium Mine is where Costeau, a former Chantry sister resides. Costeau abandoned the Chantry after the Divine Conclave and establishes a base of operations in the Emerald Graves upon joining the Freemen of the Dales.

Involvement

Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Costeau amasses the Veridium Mine as a forward base of operations for the Freemen. The mine functions as a storage for the hording of supplies from raids being carried out about the region as well as a mining operation for red lyrium that the Red Templars have brought in.

Gertrude, one of the refugees hiding out from the current ongoing War of the Lions, sneaks into the mine in order to steal supplies for her people holed up at Watcher's Reach. However, Gertrude gets caught and Costeau imprisons her for the attempted theft.

When the Inquisitor arrives at the scene, Costeau and the Freemen mistake the trespassers for a rescue party, and become hostile. Costeau proves no match for the Inquisitor and is slain. The party then proceeds to rescue all of the prisoners being held captive.
