Veilfire

Veilfire can be found in numerous places across the world of Thedas in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

While only a mage in the party can activate it, anyone can carry veilfire and use it to light other veilfire braziers or examine runes. Using a combat ability will cause the torch to drop, but you may pick it up again after disengaging. A character can loot objects and gather herbs or metals while carrying veilfire.

Veilfire cannot be removed from the area it is associated with, and characters carrying a veilfire torch will automatically drop it upon leaving the zone; veilfire dropped in this manner cannot be picked up again, but a new torch can be obtained from the source.

Veilfire can be used to find runes and activate devices.

Rune schematics can be found by locating and activating runes with veilfire.
