Bann Vaughan is a human noble and the son of the Arl of Denerim. He plays the role of an antagonist in the city elf origin and also appears late in the main quest.

Involvement

This section contains spoilers for:
{{{context}}}.

Vaughan will appear just before the city elf's wedding and cause trouble. He and his friends are driven off, but reappear together with armed guards and kidnap the females at the wedding; this includes The Warden, if female. Either way, The Warden fights their way through the Arl's estate to Vaughan, at which point they may choose to spare Vaughan's life in exchange for 40 sovereigns, or simply kill him.

If the Warden chooses not to kill him, or plays a non-city elf origin, they will meet Vaughan in Howe's dungeon in Denerim. Howe is holding Vaughan captive, and Vaughan will trade 40 sovereigns and a vote in the Landsmeet for his freedom. It seems that only Zevran has a negative reaction to the release of Vaughan, with a -5 change in disposition.

Quotes

  • "Pfft! I always regret talking to knife ears! Now I'll just gut your ignorant carcasses instead!"

Bugs

Vaughan is sometimes asleep, preventing normal dialogue options. A reported fix is to click on his cell rather than Vaughan himself.
