Varian Ilithis is the slaver holding Feynriel captive in the Slaver Caverns on The Wounded Coast during Wayward Son. Hawke can choose to bribe Varian and pay for Feynriel's release. Alternatively, Hawke can also choose to initiate a cut-scene in which Varian is killed by Hawke with a throwing knife, thereby eliminating him from the following battle making things much easier. Also, if Varric is in the group, you can choose to have him speak to Varian and make some amusing talks to convince him to release Feynriel without a fight, gaining 3
in the process. If Hawke chooses the violent option (I'll risk it) and attacks Varian without any negotiation, Fenris approves for
