Valorin is a Dalish elf from Keeper Hawen's clan.
Background[]
Valorin was a young mage studying under Keeper Hawen's tutelage, whose teachings he found frustratingly slow. Shortly before his seventeenth birthday, Valorin was passed over for the position of Keeper's First in favor of Taven. He ran away from the camp shortly after, eager to prove his worth.
Involvement[]
When The Inquisitor reaches the Dalish Encampment on the Exalted Plains, they can meet Emalien, Valorin's older sister. She is concerned about her brother, whose current whereabouts are unknown, and fears the worst. She asks the Inquisitor to look for Valorin.
The Inquisitor can find Valorin's burnt corpse near a ruined house. The remains of his journal tell the truth of what happened: Valorin decided to retrieve Lindiranae's talisman from the Shrine to Sylaise to prove that he deserved to be First. However, as the talisman was sealed behind magical wards that he couldn't break on his own, Valorin ventured into the nearby war zone, where the Veil was thin, and attempted to summon demons through a blood magic ritual. The ritual went wrong and Valorin was killed.
When the Inquisitor returns to the Dalish Encampment, they can either tell Emalien that her brother was brave, that he was stupid, or that he used blood magic. They can also choose to complete Valorin's mission by retrieving the talisman themselves. Giving the talisman to Emalien earns them even more favor from the Dalish clan.
