About Acts Edit

Hello there. I've seen you editing around and I noticed something minor, but still worthy of discussing it. When editing item pages found in the DA2 DLCs, you add the Act line on their itembox and since the DLCs are disassociated with the main plot (and thus the Acts) you write "any" next to the Act line.

Examples: Belt of the Hawke, Master Wyvern Hunter's Belt

I believe that's unneeded and perhaps confusing to the novice reader. Wouldn't it be better if we don't include the Act line at all in the DA2 DLC items? Viktoria Landers 12:31, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Hey. Personally, I am confused whenever I see an empty field because you have to guess whether it is empty intentionally or the information is missing. In my opinion "None" would be better than empty string in item stats, for example.
Now about the "any" – I wasn't the one who came up with it, but I did use it extensively. I don't really see how it is different from "varies" in item stats. I think "any" is a valid answer for the question "In what act is this item available?" It is not unique to DLCs separate from the main plot (Legacy/MoTA) either, items from other DLC packs and a number of items in the main game are available in all three acts. Although now that I think of it, it might be a good idea to change "any" to "1–3" for those.
Thanks for the feedback, by the way, I'm all for criticism. Now if only we could get someone else's opinion on this. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 14:29, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
I'm still very much a newbie. From my perspective, if I'm on an item page and am interested in the item:
1- First I check Appearances in the info box to be certain of which game/DLC is involved.
2- Then I move from info box to the article Acquistion section if available.
3- I begin to look for a link to a quest, vendor, or even an enemy from whom it can be looted. No matter how detailed the item page/info box may or not be, I'm clicking that link for further information.

That makes Act in the info box more of a supplemental piece of information to me - if I'm interested in the item I'll try to find out more about how to get it regardless of where/when it is available. Maybe this is just because I'm more in tune with DA:O than DA:2, but I'd view Act more as a means to indicate a restriction or exclusivity. If it's not there, I assume that to mean at any time, or N/A. Alternatively, I would even consider writing "DLC" in Act if it is available at any time but only with a DLC installed. That being said, I'm not crazy enough to believe that my thought process applies to anyone other than me. ;) I think this subject warrants further discussion and input.

I find act info to be the most useful when viewing item tables. You can sort the table and decide what to buy in each act, for example. And for that it doesn't matter if there's "any" or empty string or whatever for DLC items as long as it's consistent. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 16:51, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
With that in mind, do DLC items really need to be specified in Act? On the item page, not if Appearances is used. However, Viktoria has a good point about it being useful to differentiate DLC vs non-DLC items, even in a table sort as per above. Rather than have the items mixed, a sortable alternate could be used, such as "Any" for non-DLC, and "Any - DLC" or "Any (DLC)" etc. for DLC items. [edit: I'm assuming there's at least one applicable non-DLC item(?)]

Minor edits Edit

Please only check your edits as minor if they are actual minor edits. Generally speaking, edits that expand an article are not considered minor edits, while formatting or correction typos. Thanks! ··· D-day sig d·day! 19:37, August 27, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry about that. I think I've accidentally changed the 'Mark all edits as "minor" by default' setting and didn't really bother to uncheck the checkbox when publishing. I'll try to be more careful in the future. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 02:17, August 28, 2012 (UTC)

Generic Weapons Edit

If you have a moment, could you please add the possible stats for the following generic weapons?
Dalish Dagger - Dwarven Dagger - Masterwork Dwarven Dagger
Would be much appreciated, and thanks for all the great work you've been putting into the wiki!
- Eganogard (talk) 17:03, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

Done. Let me know if you encounter any mistakes! These stats are generated from the game files, and I don't check all of them in-game, it's too time-consuming. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 20:29, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

Rollback rights Edit

Hey there! I've seen that you fight off vandalism when you catch it, so I've been wondering you'd like to have rollback rights. I don't know how much you know about it, but rollback is used primarily for a quick undo for spam and vandalism. They can be used for your own edits unless you feel the need to explain the undo. Otherwise, you'll have to keep using edit summaries for normal edits (by going in the history's page to compare edits). If you'd like to have them, just tell me here! ··· D-day sig d·day! 21:33, September 25, 2012 (UTC)

Shields: weapons vs armor Edit

Just a head up, I've replied to your post on my talk page, and added my own two cents to the category talk page. In summary, I modified some shield cats purely for consistency's sake while editing the articles for other reasons. Although I do have my own thoughts on the subject, I have absolutely no objections to your proposal, and am willing to give you hand implementing any changes that may occur.

Question Edit

Hey there. I was wondering where you found the heraldry of the Resolutionists. [1]

Thanks. Viktoria Landers 23:13, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

Hey, I've extracted it from the game files (packages\core\textures\high\highrescharacterartfp.erf\art\characters\heraldry\hld_resolutionists.dds). As far as I know, it does not appear anywhere in the game itself. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 12:10, October 24, 2012 (UTC)
Aha I see. I guess the heraldry cannot be found if you don't have the Exiled Prince installed. Thanks for you answer! Viktoria Landers 17:36, October 24, 2012 (UTC)

Hello again. I don't have DA2 currently installed in order to check if this edit is a legitimate one or not. Can you check it out please?

Lorekeeper's Robe Edit

Hello Mostly. I'm trying to get the Lorekeeper's Robe from the mages in the Law and Order quest but after many tries I've been unsuccessful. Can you (via the toolset) verify that these mages drop this robe and if so, take a picture in order to upload it in the respective page? Viktoria Landers 19:36, January 4, 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. I've uploaded a basic screenshot. It's too time-consuming to check who drops the robe unfortunately, as there are no source files for the scripts from Awakening (the toolset was never updated to include these). I can see that the mages have these robes in their equipped item list, but that's about all I can tell right now. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 22:15, January 4, 2013 (UTC)
I see. Did you use the additem script to do that? If that's so, then the image is probably inaccurate. Viktoria Landers 22:36, January 4, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I just saw your edit to the item codes page. Are you sure about that bug with clothing? I tried gxa_im_cth_mag_002 and gxa_im_cth_mag_pla. They have the same model (according to .uti files) but are added with different colors when using additem. Am I missing something? – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 22:50, January 4, 2013 (UTC)
It's the same with adding another item. They are automatically given as iron if the tier is not specified. Since robes do not have tiers, they are being given to the basic colour without us being able to alter it. Regarding this particular screenshot, can you update the robe with it's correct color? Viktoria Landers 23:08, January 4, 2013 (UTC)

This basic color is specified in the .uti file and can be different for different robes. Otherwise the two robes I mentioned would have the same color since they are using the same model. You can also change it when using additemwmat. E.g. runscript additemwmat gxa_im_cth_mag_001.uti 1 82 gives Lorekeeper's Robe with the color of Robes of the Orlesian Magister. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 23:33, January 4, 2013 (UTC)

Interesting. But this requires the use of toolset in order to find the exact number, yes? Viktoria Landers 23:43, January 4, 2013 (UTC)
Any tool that can open .erf and .uti files. Toolset, pyGFF or any other similar program. Anyway, the additem should add robes with the correct color/material. If it's not the case, then I may be wrong about how clothing gets its colors. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 23:53, January 4, 2013 (UTC)
You're right. I didn't know that the additem could do that, as I only use the additemwmat which I feel it being an improved version of the former. Anyway, thanks for the help! I'll update the additem page accordingly. Viktoria Landers 19:42, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
Victoria, I tried many times (5) before smuggler mage looted the robe. In latter playthroughts I received this. It's just uncommon drop. Dalish like leather armor dropped by elven crow assassin on Old Stark's farm was far harder to receive. Botanist's Map of Thedas Edit

Hello again Mostly. I'm sorry for bugging you all the time but I think you're the only known active editor with access to the toolset. The wiki wrongfully mentioned that the Botanist's Map of Thedas was in a chest in the Redcliffe Castle. I verified that it cannot be acquired there. Few sites had also mentioned that this gift can be found in Arl Eamon's study in Denerim, however I checked there too prior and after the Landsmeet.

Perhaps you can help us about where this map can be found? Thanks. Viktoria Landers 14:32, January 15, 2013 (UTC)

Ah, Sophia helped us with it and we found what happened. See you later! Viktoria Landers 19:00, January 15, 2013 (UTC)

Discarded Letter Edit

Hey Mostly Autumn, I have created a page for an Awakening plot item, which however I cannot find it's item ID code as it's not in the page we have. Perhaps you can find the ID code on your own? That brings also the issue of the list being in fact, incomplete. Viktoria Landers 14:49, January 16, 2013 (UTC)

I have tried to additem this particular item code you entered on the page, but I couldn't, like D-day. Can you verify this too? Viktoria Landers 18:53, January 16, 2013 (UTC)
This script can only add items that are explicitly listed in it, and Discarded Letter is not listed. P.S. I dumped a list of all item codes with names here if you need one. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 19:02, January 16, 2013 (UTC)
Many thanks! Viktoria Landers 19:15, January 16, 2013 (UTC)
It seems I chose a wrong field for item code when generating the previous list. Fixed version is here. The differences are minor though. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 19:19, January 16, 2013 (UTC)

The Peasant Revolution Edit

Hey Mostly! This time I need to know if you can help me with The Peasant Revolution page. What I mean is, certain things that happened in the past influence the dialogue choices and mark some flags. With more than 50+ walkthroughs I have pretty much completed it, however I am not certain in case I have not found another flag or something.

While D-day was helping me she told me that the toolset cannot be used effectively in the Awakening, however a user has even made a dialogue tree and lists all the flags that influence this quest. So I am wondering whether you can find where a certain flag can be altered within the game or not. Viktoria Landers 20:35, January 19, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I'm not sure I can help with tracking plot flags. I'll have a look at it but I'm not really familiar with the dialogue/plot/quest system. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 07:28, January 23, 2013 (UTC)

Drakon Edit

Hey Alex, nice work with the Emperor's page! Don't forget to add links to that page from any page you know that it mentions him ;-) Cheers! Viktoria Landers 14:16, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

Kordillus II is never called Kordillus Drakon II in the official lore - That's a very bad reason. So does Meredith, which is called Meredith Stannard or Knight-Commander Meredith, yet the page "Meredith" is a redirect linking to her page. Since both characters share the same name, I think it's important to add a disambiguation page for neutrality reasons. Viktoria Landers 16:28, June 24, 2013 (UTC)

I was initially resistant to the change (see Talk:Emperor Kordillus II) but no emperor or empress of Orlais is ever mentioned as Drakon except for Kordillus I. As for Meredith, she is sometimes called simply Meredith in the game, unlike Kordillus II who is never called Kordillus Drakon II. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 16:47, June 24, 2013 (UTC)

WoT image licensing Edit

Alex, I brought the issue about which license to choose for WoT files to Tierrie because both sides of the argument have a good reason (Dragon Age series and thus imagery is a property of BioWare VS Dark Horse Comics being the publisher). He was also not certain, but ultimately supported to tag them as {{Bioware image}} in order to be consistent with images from past book releases. Subsequently, I'm going to change the license of your uploaded file back to BioWare license. If you have an issue with that, feel free to revert my edit where then the issue we'll be discussed in the forums and a proper voting will take place. Viktoria Landers 21:16, June 25, 2013 (UTC)

Basic Longbow Edit

I was just curious, is this thing not random loot like the other items you removed off the Hunting Stores article? -HD3 (talk) 14:26, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

Despite the name, it is not random. It is always sold in this store, and the stats are always the same. Interestingly, it is the same longbow as the one you get automatically if you remove your currently equipped bow. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 18:33, July 3, 2013 (UTC)
How bizarre. Are you able to write up the item page for that? I've lost my DA2 saves.-HD3 (talk) 01:42, July 4, 2013 (UTC)
I just wanted to double check, the states for the longbow are EXACTLY the same as the default bow if you remove your currently equipped bow? Because that would probably warrant a mention with a trivia section on the Basic Longbow article.-HD3 (talk) 08:41, July 7, 2013 (UTC)
It's not just the stats. It is the same bow. I'll add the relevant info later today. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 08:54, July 7, 2013 (UTC)

Merchant Tables Edit

I can make that change to the infobox. That's a pretty reasonable request and it might fix some issues we have with other pages as well. The whole infobox was originally designed to fit the entire window width back in the monobook skin days. Wikia changed this design sometime in the 2010-2011 time frame and gave us a fixed width Oasis skin. So you will see some elements that don't quite fit.

As for the merchant table, it was something I worked on in the past. I struggled with the tables as I feel that tables detract from the "articleness" of a wiki. So if you're working on the merchant tables, feel free to think big Smiley -- tierrie talk contr 21:21, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

part of civil war Edit

Bodahn and Sandal Edit

I know from the work you did on the Hunting Stores you've clearly got a much better understanding of the DA2 merchants and the random loot that can spawn in the inventories. I was wondering if you'd be willing to take a look at the Bodahn's Goods and Sandal's Store articles. They both suffer from the same problem and i've no idea how to fix it.-HD3 (talk) 05:16, July 22, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for that. Good job.-HD3 (talk) 07:53, July 22, 2013 (UTC)

This category comes from Template:FreeMarchesConflicts. Removing it from this template will also remove the category from these pages. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 12:35, August 9, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. It was pretty much inaccurate to list only the "Free Marches" category in the Qunari Wars as at least 4 other nations were invaded by the Qunari. So I manually added the cat in the Free Marches conflicts while removed it from the template. Viktoria Landers 12:53, August 9, 2013 (UTC)

images Edit

Heya! I noticed on the Scout's Dirk page you added in the line px = 270px.

Hey. This is the width of the image thumbnail. Generally, if you're adding an image to the infobox that is wider than 270 pixels you should specify "px = 270px" so that the box doesn't become too wide. You can see the effect by comparing two page versions – current and previous. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 05:14, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

Lost Swords Edit

Are you sure about the Lost Swords rewards always checking talents? Even the Bassrath-Kata page states that, specifically for warriors, the game checks item equipped, not talents. It also seems rather odd that someone would post a bug that is and always has been impossible to happen. Sen 00:48, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

My knowledge comes from inspecting the script that is supposed to give the reward. The bug was probably "discovered" in the following way: a) the user thinks that the game checks what weapon is equipped, b) gets a different weapon, c) thinks that's a bug. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 01:25, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

Orlesian Battledress from Dragon Age 2Edit

Hello, Lady Viktoria Landers told me that you could help me out, so here I am. Nobody has made a page for the Orlesian Battledress in Dragon Age 2, it is in the 'Mark of the Assassin DLC.' I noticed the Orlesian Battledress in DA2 a while ago and confirmed it just now when I popped DA2 in. Its a unique piece of armor, with its own design and everything, I feel as if it should be up on the wikia. I was hoping that you could make the page and put a pic up, and I can fill in the blanks. Format help Edit

Hey, I'm trying to add quests to the list of available quests on The Darkspawn Chronicles, and ran into a snag with one of them. All of the templates from existing quest pages seemed to transfer over correctly, but with Slay the Healer, instead of a quest icon with the quest name after it appearing, the whole quest info box shows up. I checked that quest page and it was missing the onlyinclude tags, so I added those, but beyond that I can't see how it's any different from the formatting on the other quest pages that showed up correctly. Kelcat (talk) 05:00, August 30, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, you need to use "style=iconmini" instead of just "iconmini". If you omit the "style=" part, the transformer template simply ignores that parameter. Cheers! – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 05:06, August 30, 2013 (UTC)

Item ID's Edit

I have no idea how to access item ID's and I know you add a lot to the pages--do you happen to know (or are you able to find out) if the weapons in The Darkspawn Chronicles have different ID's from their counterparts in Origins? They're the same weapons, such as Saw Sword, but their properties are vastly different Saw Sword (Darkspawn Chronicles). However, I'm not sure if they'd share the same ID number. Armor sets Edit

Hello!
I'm wondering about something: it appeared to me for a while now that whenever there is a set of armor, the respective armor pieces such as gloves etc. don't require images separately, but instead they are linked back to the set's page where they are shown together. Contrary to that, it seems that you do require images for each piece, though not for all, you need pictures for this one for example while here there's no template for "pictures needed". And just now as I tried to look into it even more thoroughly, some pieces of sets actually have pictures, such as this.
If I may ask, is there a guideline regarding wether there must be pictures for each respective piece? I have no luck of finding guidelines (or perhaps I'm just too tired now to search deeper), and I've only started to learn my ways around editing, so I'm curious and kind of confused. If I may say so, personally I find it sufficient to have a picture of the whole set, as that includes all the pieces, but if there's a set rule about it, I'm not one to argue at all (not that I would, anyway). --Margerard 17:43, October 3, 2013 (UTC)

Hey! The only guideline we have is DA:IMAGE. As far as I can tell, currently we try to add a separate image for every part of the set. Personally, I like this, it is hard to see the details of the individual pieces, especially helmets and gloves, on a set image. If you think that one image is enough, this should probably be discussed on a forum.
mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 18:44, October 3, 2013 (UTC)

This was why i removed the image tag off boots of the champion, because we already have the image on the whole set page. I don't know how you reached the conclusion that we try to add an image for each individual piece, given that the contrary view is used on so many different armor sets. Perhaps we use a single image on the set page until someone uploads an image for each individual equipment piece. -HD3 (talk) 01:59, October 4, 2013 (UTC)

I just started a forum discussion concerning this topic, as it seems to me there are some conflicting opinions. --Margerard 02:41, October 4, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah it was. We've got this problem with several of the equipment articles we're fixing up right now. Could you possibly fix this problem on those pages as well please. I've tagged them all with the clean-up tag.-HD3 (talk) 08:28, October 11, 2013 (UTC)

Failing that if you could just explain to me how you fixed it, that'd work too.-HD3 (talk) 08:42, October 11, 2013 (UTC)

The links look like that because there are no icons in the infoboxes on the linked pages. I can fix the rest of the pages, but not right now. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 08:44, October 11, 2013 (UTC)

Kelcat's renaming spree Edit

As Kelcat is renaming lots of character pages (by removing their titles from their name), a large number of links takes people to redirects instead of the exact page's name. This is not an extremely serious issue, but it will be problematic if it is left unchecked. Would you mind using your bot to make sure pages link to the exact page and not in its redirects? Thanks in advance! Viktoria Landers 15:19, October 16, 2013 (UTC)

I’ve been working on updating all of those redirects, slowly but surely--but if this is something a bot can do that would be a huuuuge timesaver! I have a list of all of the pages I’ve renamed so far, if that’s needed (Though as my spree is still ongoing that list is going to be growing by quite a bit!) Kelcat (talk) 20:21, October 16, 2013 (UTC)

Codex: Characters Edit

The page Codex: Characters redirects to Codex: Characters (Origins). At the same time all codex entries link to the Codex: Characters which means it should be tweaked to link to the Origins instead. But by making this tweak however, this also alters the category of the codex entry. Which means that we need to create a category too. I could do this part, but first I'd like to know that your bot will do the rest :) Viktoria Landers 06:22, November 4, 2013 (UTC)

I've changed the links, no bot needed. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 11:10, November 4, 2013 (UTC)

starkhaven longbow Edit

hey, i made separate pages for item and quest.dont mess them up! JH EP (talk) 08:21, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

oh i cant undo it.why did you shited everything??? JH EP (talk) 08:24, November 16, 2013 (UTC)
Can you be more specific? I had to edit your pages to remove extra categories and do some other tweaks. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 08:26, November 16, 2013 (UTC)
well i made them separate

Starkhaven Longbow

Starkhaven Longbow

The Starkhaven Longbow

they are ok now except for gift version's item_id which i will correct it. JH EP (talk) 08:47, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

Well, I don't have a problem with that. I only changed the hatnote style and removed the categories on the longbow page. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 08:50, November 16, 2013 (UTC)
how can i delete a whole page??? JH EP (talk) 10:34, November 16, 2013 (UTC)
Only administrators can delete pages. The proper way to delete a page is by adding {{delete|Delete reason.}} at the top of the article text. This will place the page into Category:Candidates for deletion and if there is no opposition within a reasonable timeframe, the page will be deleted. If it's your own page created by mistake, you can try asking one of the administrators to speed up the process. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 06:45, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

categories Edit

  • you said that i shouldnt use categories such as: *amulets.belts.rings.longswords.armors
  • do you remember?
  • we dont use a category named bows for all bow but we just point bows to either dragon age ii shortbows or dragon age ii longbows categories!
  • so shouldnt we leave shields out of the way too and just use metal shield and roundshields to keep the style Unmixed?????

JH EP (talk) 12:23, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

Hey! It's not a strict rule, and shields doesn't seem to follow it (not sure why). On a relevant note, some time ago I suggested to remove round and metal shields categories as they're rather pointless, see Talk:Shields (Dragon Age II). – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 06:38, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

erf files Edit

hello how do you open DA2's ERF files? JH EP (talk) 08:27, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

I think you can use pyGFF. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 16:46, November 18, 2013 (UTC)
bioware servers are blocked in my location due to some user made adult mod! :\
Currently i am using a "Editor" bundled with dao save editor which dont show item names and extentions sometime.
can you give me another link?
and BTW how did you get that decimal values? JH EP (talk) 18:54, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

I don't where to find it. I wrote a somewhat similar program myself but I can't it share unfortunately. It's also how I calculate those decimal values (the formula is here). There is also a way to calculate them from the merchant prices, i.e. for Vestments of the Mystic you take the price 72120 and divide it by the merchant markup ("|markup = 12.5" in the merchant page source): 72120 / 12.5 = 5769.6. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 19:12, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

come on,why dont you share it? JH EP (talk) 19:39, November 18, 2013 (UTC)
Answer Please JH EP (talk) 19:51, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

I don't have time to prepare it for release. It has a lot of very specific dependencies (such as SQL Server or DirectX) and hardcoded settings. It also has to be rebuilt to do different tasks. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 20:39, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

so you are going to release it later? and how did you got that formulas??? JH EP (talk) 20:53, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

I can't promise that. I got the formulas by trial and error. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 22:23, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

ok
from which file did you get "PropertyScale"?
and how do you open a ncs file?

JH EP (talk) 01:59, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

item_properties.gda – "float0" column

NCS files are bytecode, compiled scripts. I'm not aware of any published tools that can show them in human readable way. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 06:44, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

Acts in DA2 item infoboxes Edit

the black emporium Edit

hello there is a item with this among TBE items! tbe100im_treasure_map_1 do you know what that is? JH EP (talk) 08:39, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

"Ancient Treasure Map", it's probably leftovers from some cut content. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 08:44, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

so i shouldnt make a page for this item? JH EP (talk) 08:47, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

We do create pages for cut items, see DA:EDIT#Unobtainable items and cut contentmostlyautumntalkcontribs • 09:26, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

  • I see.
  • then these items should not be metioned at all?
  • there is no page that contain all cut items in one place or something?

JH EP (talk) 09:38, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

    • ???

You must've misunderstood me, you CAN create a page for this item. There is no special page for cut items but they are listed here – Category:Dragon Age II unobtainable items. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 16:55, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

  • you said that due to wiki rules i shouldnt create pages for cut items and not you say i can create pages for cut items?
  • JH EP (talk) 17:18, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

I never said that you can't create pages for cut items. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 17:24, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

problem Edit

hello i have convinced some people to add their opinion in http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:Acts_in_DA2_item_infoboxes

and they say they have done it but neither me nor they see any change in that page!

do you know what is this about?

signature Edit

how can i change color of my signature's link?

-JH EP (talk) 03:51, November 25, 2013 (UTC)

Go to your preferences, tick "I want to use wikitext in my signature" and enter the following as "Custom signature":

[[User:JH EP|<span style="color: #00ff00;">JH EP</span>]]

You can adjust the color to your liking, google "hex color" if you are not familiar with them.

Question Edit

  • i remember one of game files had in-game name of items and item IDs both in it, but i dont remember name of that file.you know what is name of that file?
  • where can i find a full list of item transfer's commands?
  • also answer singnature and act section above this one.

- JH EP (talk) 05:49, November 25, 2013 (UTC)

I don't remember such file. I can generate one for you but this will have to wait for a couple of days.
mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 07:39, November 26, 2013 (UTC)

i remember that file included information about all items.
but since i have not opened any of DA game files for more than one year, i dont remember it's name.
btw i had wrote this piece of information about unreleased unlockable items in a text file :
  • 979 prm000im_fut_c.uti Thrice-Enchanted Gloves
  • 1074 prm000im_fut12.uti Ring of Thought
  • 1077 prm000im_fut09.uti Brother Bedine's Mnemonic
  • 1083 prm000im_fut03.uti The Unbroken Circle
  • 1085 prm000im_fut05.uti Belt of Acumen
  • 1086 prm000im_fut12_c.uti Ring of Thought
  • 1089 prm000im_fut09_c.uti Brother Bedine's Mnemonic
  • 1095 prm000im_fut03_c.uti The Unbroken Circle
  • 1097 prm000im_fut05_c.uti Belt of Acumen

also i remember there was a rule about properties of generic items that depending to hawke's class could be chosen from a list of nine properties (three per class) do you know where are these information?

i want to create pages for generic items and so i need them but i can not find that file.

- JH EP 10:55, November 26, 2013 (UTC)

Found the file: packages\core\patch\stratguide_items.gda. It's not used by the game, so the info may be incorrect/incomplete.

The information about the generic properties is stored in ts_****.gda files in 2da.rim. I was planning to generate pages for the generic items with a bot but I'm busy with other stuff. You might find User:Mostlyautumn/Sandbox2 helpful. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 08:28, November 29, 2013 (UTC)

thanks for answer

oh,i forgot to say that actually i have Problem about DLCs. properties of generic items of legacy and mota stored in which file? there is no ts_***_props.gda in legacy and mota's 2da. do you know where is this information? - JH EP - Talk - Contribs 08:45, November 29, 2013 (UTC)

Treasure categories are listed in ts_category*.gda files. TableN, WeaponTable, WeaponProps, ArmorTable, ArmorProps, AccessoryTable, AccessoryProps columns contain IDs of the files to use. You can get filenames from the m2da*.gda files. Now if you look in the ts_category_drk.gda and ts_category_eye.gda, you can see that Legacy and MotA use generic properties from the main campaign. P.S. I don't have a yahoo account. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 06:21, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

there are "*Props" column in "ts_category_*.gda" but actually that numbers does not exist in "item_properties.gda"!

1-that is my problem!

2-i dont see item names in m2da_base.gda! can you explain how can i get it?

3-can you explain what is use of "TableN" and "*tables" ?

thanks for answers - JH EP - Talk - Contribs 08:25, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

m2da files contain IDs of GDA files. For example, "(EYE) Tal-Vashoth [Qunari]" TS category has 6875 for WeaponProps. This corresponds to "6875 treasure_qunari TS_qunari_wpn_props" row in m2da_base.gda which means that the generic properties are taken from the TS_qunari_wpn_props.gda file.
TableN are for junk.
*table files list generic items you can loot based on rank(?) and Hawke's class.
mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 08:42, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

oh, it seems that M2da_*.gda is playing an important role in connecting things with each-other.

thanks for answer

i have one more question about generic items:

in last part of generic items you can see

*_r0

*_r1

*_r2

and some times generic items have no properties sometimes one ,two,or three properties.

  • about number of properties of generic items, do you know what is limit? - JH EP - Talk - Contribs 09:18, December 3, 2013 (UTC)
The limit is probably 3. I don't know whether rN suffix influences item stats or not. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 13:17, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

i mean number of properties depend on N in "*_rN" part of item ID!

items may have 0,1,2,3 property while N in "*_rN" part of item ID can only be 0,1or2.

so i am not sure how thing mix in game.

can you figure it out? - JH EP - Talk - Contribs 13:26, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

I'll try. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 14:33, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

did you find out anything??? - JH EP - Talk - Contribs 14:59, December 8, 2013 (UTC)

Bot request assistance Edit

Hey Alex! Your bot is requested in several cases. So I won't lose time and provide you with the links!

Many thanks in advance! Viktoria Landers 01:02, December 2, 2013 (UTC)

Extras Edit

One more might be added soon about the Orzammar Assembly. Cheers! Viktoria Landers 21:18, December 6, 2013 (UTC)

The links are done with the exception of Joining (split candidate), Gundaar and Hormak (I think we should keep links to pages that may get content in the future). – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 12:09, December 7, 2013 (UTC)
That's okay. Here is the extra few things as promised!

Viktoria Landers 19:58, December 7, 2013 (UTC)

I am not sure if you find more convenient to send the requested lists via skype, but here is another similar (and small) request:
Some pages link to "Dwarves#Dwarven language and phrases". I need you to find them so I have knowledge of which they are and also change their link to Dwarves#Languages and phrases. Viktoria Landers 22:56, December 20, 2013 (UTC)

Update Edit

Hello Alexey! I know your bot did the re-linking to plural in the three races. (Elf -> Elves) but since the pages are renamed to their singular form, we need to relink them once again. If you are busy or unavailable please let me know so I can ask another bot user. Oh and when you come across the User/Forum links, you can follow the guidelines set in Forum:Red links maintenance. Cheers! Viktoria Landers 07:39, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

item id codes Edit

Hey! Not sure if this is within your scope, but I'm planning on adding a page for the Control Rod in Origins (from The Stone Prisoner DLC) and I'm not sure what the correct Item ID code would be. I looked at Item ID codes (Origins), and found two different codes for control rods in Origins.

arl150it_control_stone (a redlink simply named Control Rod) shl100im_control_rod (links to Golem Control Rod, which currently is just a page describing all uses of control rods in various games/stories.

Do you happen to know which one would be the correct item id for the Control Rod used to activate Shale? Kelcat (talk) 18:16, December 2, 2013 (UTC)

Please excuse me for butting in: just in case you're not already aware, the toolset shows that the arl150it_control_stone corresponds to the Golem Control Rod used in The Golem in Redcliffe (with the description, "A faceted cylinder of solid crystal, deep blue in color and cool to the touch.") -Sophia (talk) 18:25, December 2, 2013 (UTC)
you can obtain control rod and save.then open your save with dao save editor and go to Inventory\Plot items if you want to be sure. - JH EP - Talk - Contribs 18:35, December 2, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, unfortunately I have no knowledge of the save editor and all that, and have no desire to try and figure it out :D
Sophia, thanks for obtaining that description! So that would be the control rod that can't be obtained in game and not the one that is given to you by Felix de Grosbois. Still trying to figure out if all the different Golem Control Rods should have their own articles, but that might be another one to add at some point. Kelcat (talk) 18:55, December 2, 2013 (UTC)
JH EP, thank you for that. I've just tried what you said, and if I've done it correctly, it says that the id for the control rod that Felix gives is shl100im_control_rod. -Sophia (talk) 19:07, December 2, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for looking into this, I appreciate it. Kelcat (talk) 23:48, December 2, 2013 (UTC)

NavBox Edit

The NavBox template was edited at some point to add margin on the left and right side to fake a centered title. The problem is that it does create some disproportionate title when the navbox is smaller than the maximum width allowed (as seen on Template:Policies). I'm not sure what templates made the edit necessary (I need to visualize it) though. Would it possible for you to look into it or to point me to the specific template so I can test? ··· D-day sig d·day! 05:28, December 8, 2013 (UTC)

I did some research and this is what I came up with. Our navbox titles mostly look like either "navbar – title – show/hide" (Template:Magic) or just "title" (the one you linked). Without the 6em margin wrapper the title is centered in the first case as if there is no toggle to the right ("navbar – title"). This happens because the show/hide button has "margin-left: -100%" declaration (http://dev.wikia.com/wiki/ShowHide/code.js – createCollapseButtons function).

I believe the proper way to fix the problem is to add ".navbox .collapseButton { margin-left: 0 !important; }" (overriding that -100%) to our CSS and remove the 6em title wrapper (revert the last two edits to the navbox template). – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 07:26, December 8, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! It works as intended now. :D ··· D-day sig d·day! 16:48, December 8, 2013 (UTC)

Legacy Item ID codes Edit

Hey, I was looking over the list of Legacy id codes you added in your sandbox and it looks like all the plot items for the quest Altar of Dumat are missing. They are:

Any way you might be able to dig those codes up? Kelcat (talk) 21:30, February 24, 2014 (UTC)

They are not items but placeables, same as chests, altars, etc. This needs to be checked but I believe they can't be added to the inventory.

  • drk000ip_dumat_crown.utp
  • drk000ip_dumat_dagger.utp
  • drk000ip_dumat_scroll.utp
  • drk000ip_dumat_urn.utp

Cheers! – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 23:02, February 24, 2014 (UTC)

Oh, okay, I didn't realize they were different. I'll try to either install the console or do a playthrough to see whether they show up in the inventory. Thanks for the help! Kelcat (talk) 01:29, February 25, 2014 (UTC)

Game files quick check Edit

Hey Alex, could you make a quick check on DAO game files? You can find more about it in User talk:JH EP#Inventory check. Thanks in advance! Viktoria Landers 23:14, February 25, 2014 (UTC)

Forgot to mention Edit

Alex I also forgot to mention in skype that you haven't done the following two bot re-linking:

It would be really great if this section is done before I will be unavailable. Cheers! Viktoria Landers 15:07, February 27, 2014 (UTC)

Hey Alex! Please let me know if you're still up for this. I don't think it's anything biggie. Cheers! Viktoria Landers 07:50, April 6, 2014 (UTC)

Both should be done now. – mostlyautumntalkcontribs • 18:57, April 14, 2014 (UTC)
