JoH schematics Edit

Hello, I noticed that a lot of Jaws of Hakkon Schematics were missing pictures and just wanted to bring to your attention a source I've been using in case you wanted to do something with it WhisperingElf (talk) 14:38, May 1, 2015 (UTC)WhisperingElf

whoops, here it is http://imgur.com/a/aAVHm#30 WhisperingElf (talk) 14:45, May 1, 2015 (UTC)WhisperingElf
Very nice! I'll see if we have a use for them. --Kelcat Talk 18:24, May 1, 2015 (UTC)

Scroll Boxes Edit

Hey do you know anything about setting up scroll boxes on the wiki? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 00:24, May 2, 2015 (UTC)

Griffons Edit

Okay, so in WoT Volume I read about a Grey WArden apprentice who was witness to the hidden griffon eggs hatching!!! should i include this on the griffon page under a spoiler, and if so, should i do so under a new heading of 'resurgence' or but do you know what this means. Griffons are back so they could possibly be in the next game. Griffon riding. Aerial battles on griffons! WhisperingElf (talk) 21:06, May 8, 2015 (UTC)WhisperingElf

Man, that would be awesome! Much better than the mounts in Inquisition. I think that's already covered by the info on The Flast Flight in the griffon page, but if you see that anything needs to be added to it, feel free to do so. --Kelcat Talk 22:17, May 8, 2015 (UTC)

Vandalism Edit

Hey, 180.95.18.6 has been posting inappropriate edits on numerous wiki pages. I've been undoing them, but they still won't stop. Can you please give me a hand?--MarkRulez711 (talk) 00:44, May 12, 2015 (UTC)

Image of an Inquisitor Edit

Doesn't http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/What_Pride_Had_Wrought?diff=717767&oldid=711262 violate DA:IMAGE? DaBarkspawn (talk) 14:47, May 13, 2015 (UTC)

Sure does. I'll remove it. I wonder if we can get an image of Morrigan drinking from the well. --Kelcat Talk 18:17, May 13, 2015 (UTC)

Adding price information to stores Edit

Hey, I wanted to finish off the store lists I added in the four Black Emporium shops a couple weeks ago, but I have no idea how to input the currency. Anytime I check the source editor it only says "=InquisitionCurrency". Do you have any idea how putting that information in works? Thanks in advance.

RShepard227 (talk) 19:54, May 19, 2015 (UTC)

Unfortunately that's one thing I have no idea how to do! Check with User:Mostlyautumn or User:Loleil, they should be able to help you. --Kelcat Talk 20:50, May 19, 2015 (UTC)

Resolution Edit

Hey have wiki changed their screen resolution for this site? I swear it looks different. Just trying to figure out if its the site or my computer. -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 03:15, May 20, 2015 (UTC)

I'm not seeing any visual differences. They did just add all those share buttons (reddit, twitter, etc) so I wonder if maybe that messed up screen resolution for some? --Kelcat Talk 04:04, May 20, 2015 (UTC)
Hey if you look at the Multiplayer article, can you see all five tarot cards for each class? Because previously it showed two tarots, then underneath two more and then finally the DLC tarot. Now its only showing me four for each and they're all side by side.

Well, that's interesting. Usually they do pop-up announcements for this kind of stuff. The image gallery on the Multiplayer page definitely looks broken to me now, too. Hopefully this won't affect too many other pages! --Kelcat Talk 05:27, May 20, 2015 (UTC)

Ugh so many articles are going to need fixing. This has completely sapped my enthusiasm for editing.

Blagging Edit

Yeah I let myself get a bit sidetracked there. My bad. I can't wait until my own copy of World of Thedas vol.2 is here and we don't have to rely on shitty tumblr posts for scraps of second hand information. -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 10:34, May 22, 2015 (UTC)

Understandable, but the original post is a direct copy of the book, so it'll be useful. The rest I can definitely identify with as someone who ignores canon all the time when I write short fics = Kelcat Talk 10:45, May 22, 2015 (UTC)
Its just an element of fan community I don't understand, despite trying repeatedly. I can understand differing interpretations of the same text but just flat out ignoring parts of a text just because I didn't like them seems so...I can't even think of the right word. Or perhaps its just the term "headcanon" itself I take issue with. Admittedly incorporating the word "canon" into a term existing solely so people can avoid saying "Stuff I think which is not supported by the text in any way", always did grate on me a little.

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 11:06, May 22, 2015 (UTC)

The term "headcanon" grates on me as well, and I stay far, far away from most of the fandom on places like tumblr. Or anywhere where people insist on calling Fenris "FenFen" or other cutesy tems like that Tonguesmiley --Kelcat Talk 20:11, May 22, 2015 (UTC)

Stone Halla "Recommendations" Edit

An anonymous user has done a series of edits starting at http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Herd_of_Stone_Halla?diff=next&oldid=719771 where they list "recommendations" about which doors to open or not. Given that there aren't enough halla to open all doors, I think we shouldn't be recommending anything as it depends a lot on what strategies and objectives the player choses. Is there policy on this? DaBarkspawn (talk) 17:46, May 24, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, I'd say recommendation's not really the right word for it, as it's fine to open any of them. Having a note about which doors are related to certain parts of different quests could be extremely helpful, though. So maybe a bit of rewording is needed. --Kelcat Talk 18:18, May 24, 2015 (UTC)

Outside Opinion Requested Edit

Hey which placement for the skill set layout seems easier to read to you, Belinda or Neria ? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 04:11, May 27, 2015 (UTC)

Belinda is much better. On my laptop, the skillset image on Neria's page is so far to the right that there's a tone of blank space between the "Protection" header and the actual list of skills. --Kelcat Talk 04:38, May 27, 2015 (UTC)
We'll adopt the one used on Belinda as standard model then. Except for Isabela obviously because that is a whole other problem.

Inquisition Members V. Agents Edit

Should Inquisition agents count as inquisition members also? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 06:11, May 28, 2015 (UTC)

That's a toughie. I could see benefits to both counting them and not counting them. On the one hand, many of them aren't volunteers so I'm not sure if they should be included, but on the other hand, if we go by the literal definition of member, "someone or something that belongs to or is a part of a group or an organization", then I would think they should be. Maybe get some other opinions? --Kelcat Talk 02:52, May 29, 2015 (UTC)
We could try to do it on a case by case basis. Korbin for instance is first and foremost a member of the Legion of the Dead and works as an agent of the Inquisition but does not seem to be considered a formal member of the organization. But honestly I think the best solution and probably ultimately the most accurate would be to just classify all agents also as members.

Unnamed topic Edit

Hi!

This should be included in the DAI - Easter Eggs TV Shows - The Simpsons: One of the Bottles of Thedas recovered in Old Creastwood has a description as "Tastes Like Burning". This is in reference to The Simpsons' episode when Ralph Wiggum says "They taste like burning."

Hey Kelcat, which of these two options do you prefer to replace the sigrun profile image? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 13:07, June 16, 2015 (UTC)

Might cut the first one a little on the right side so sigrun's face is more central

They're both nice! I think I prefer the top one a little more. --Kelcat Talk 18:47, June 16, 2015 (UTC)

Agents in Val Royeaux Edit

Yes, you are correct that it what it implies. It is not what it says, however. As my edit was, in your eyes, redundant, could you suggest a more apt edit that makes it clear, especially to new players who do not know the names of every NPC? At least, that's my reason for still not having recruited this agent. Perhaps defining who Fiona is, à la "Fiona, the First Enchanter" or something to that effect? From the description, I thought Fiona was a rival merchant. Thanks a bunch. Siltharin (talk) 06:25, June 18, 2015 (UTC)

I'm not sure identifying Fiona as the Grand Enchanter would mean any more to people than the name would, so I'm not sure that would help much. As the player absolutely cannot leave Val Royeaux without encountering Fiona, the two sentences (the one there now and the one you added) pretty much say the same thing, just different wording. If you feel it's better to replace the existing sentence with your wording, I have no objection, but there's no point in having both. --Kelcat Talk 06:36, June 18, 2015 (UTC)
Actually, I double-checked and you don't have to actually leave Val Royeaux to miss out on Belle. It's possible to talk to Fiona, not go through the actual exit and then go back into the summer bazaar and Belle will be gone. Just learned that the hardway when I took a wrong turn towards the exit rather than towards one of the merchants. I didn't go through the exit, but Belle was gone. So the way it's worded now is actually correct. And Fiona's name is linked, so if people are confused about who she is they can just click on that. --Kelcat Talk 01:56, June 19, 2015 (UTC)

Ariane (Witch Hunt DLC) Edit

Hi, you wiped the dialogues, because it can't be on characters main page. Is there any use for me to make a page for them (Ariane/dialogue or whatever) and put theme there or considering how pointless this contribution is I should just stay off it? --Insanye (talk) 08:46, June 29, 2015 (UTC)

Sure, if you think it's worth having a separate dialogue article for Ariane I wouldn't object. Though if you decide to, might I suggest you create one for Finn as well? It would feel incongruous to have a dialogue page for one Witch Hunt companion and not the other. Kelcat Talk 08:55, June 29, 2015 (UTC)

Customizable Table Edit

Hey Kelcat I would like to get your feedback on setting up a table for the categories I am working on: (hafts, pommels, grips, armor arms, armor legs), as to pull information directly from the source; please see the haft section for an example of what I am trying to do. Let me know if this is something that can be easily remedied as I am having a bit of difficulty implementing the changes.Thank you.--Zj24 (talk) 08:11, July 11, 2015 (UTC)

That'd require you to make a table template, which I'm unfortunately not that good at. The only advice I can offer is to take a look at other table templates and see how those were created. --Kelcat Talk 01:27, July 13, 2015 (UTC)
Hey Kelcat, you wouldn't mind assisting me with adjusting a few item names as I am not familiar with how to do so without creating an entire new page; I would appreciate it if you could please change the following:

1. [Engraved Pommel (Level 23)] to Engraved Pommel (Level 19)
2. [Firm Two-Handed Haft] to [Firm Two-Handed Haft (level 15)]
3. [Firm Two-Handed Haft(2)] to [Firm Two-Handed Haft (level 23)]
4. Solid Two-Handed Haft to [Solid Two-Handed Haft (level 15)]

Thanks again.--Zj24 (talk) 20:55, July 18, 2015 (UTC)

Sure, I can take care of these! For future reference, all you need to do is choose "Rename" in the edit dropdown box and rename it to what you want. Once you do that, make sure to use What Links Here to update the links in any associated articles. --Kelcat Talk 23:04, July 18, 2015 (UTC)
Hey Kelcat I finished editing and organizing the armor and weapon schematic pages. I was planning on doing the same for pommels, hafts, grips and staff blades. Please let me know which format you prefer, please refer to the Pommels section and view these items from that page: 1. Balanced Two-Handed Grip 2. Dense Pommel or 3. Engraved Pommel (Level 15), unless you had something different in mind.--Zj24 (talk) 01:42, August 6, 2015 (UTC)

Hey Kelcat, can you please adjust this table header: {{ArmorTableHeaderInquisition|style=chestpiece| to match with the other armor percentages, from the following pages Light armor (Inquisition) Medium armor (Inquisition) Heavy armor (Inquisition) I will then be able to substitute this table header on multiple pages. Thank again - --Zj24 (talk) 00:38, August 21, 2015 (UTC)
Sure. Are you wanting it to be 23%? --Kelcat Talk 02:38, August 21, 2015 (UTC)
Hey again Kelcat, I just experimented with different percentages, please use the following percentages, this will work best for light/medium/heavy and the unique section of armors:
Name Armor Upgrades Requires Enhancements Acquisition

Okay, may take a bit of fiddling, I'll let you know when I've got it fixed. --Kelcat Talk 04:09, August 21, 2015 (UTC)

Ok, sounds good.--Zj24 (talk) 04:24, August 21, 2015 (UTC)
All right, the numbers have been updated so you should be good to go. --Kelcat Talk 04:29, August 23, 2015 (UTC)
Hi Kelcat, I appreciate you helping me with this, I applied the table header to Light Armor page, it looks good, but was wondering if could please adjust the forth category name from requirements to requires as this will allow a larger view for the acquisition section.--Zj24 (talk) 10:01, August 23, 2015 (UTC)
Done. Smiley --Kelcat Talk 05:44, August 24, 2015 (UTC)

Hey Kelcat, when you get some free time could you please adjust the following table {{WeaponTableHeaderInquisition| with the following values:

Name Damage Enhancements Upgrades Requires Acquisition

Images Required Edit

Hey so, first thing's first, I've finished all the Multiplayer character and ability articles at long last. Second, do you have a save towards the end of Dragon Age II, because we actually still need images of abilities in use for quite a few DA2 abilities and I've lost my saves. Again. Because I am an idiot and didn't think to back them up before re-installing the OS. -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 09:50, July 13, 2015 (UTC)

Nice job on all the multiplayer stuff! As for saves, I've unfortunately had 2 computer meltdowns in the last year so all Dragon Age save files (including my Origins ones!) are dust in the wind. --Kelcat Talk 19:23, July 13, 2015 (UTC)
Damn, I feel your pain. I just got my DA:O and DA2 saves perfect in every minor detail too.

Hey, I'm debating, do you think the short fade section in Champions of the Just warrants a separate location article? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 07:39, July 16, 2015 (UTC)

It's been awhile since I've done that quest, when do they go into the Fade? --Kelcat Talk 07:35, July 17, 2015 (UTC)

time index - 30:30 to 48:30 - when they confront Lord Seeker Lucius outside the great hall and its revealed he's been replaced by an envy demon -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 07:52, July 17, 2015 (UTC)

Ohh, right! It's got a lot of stuff going on in it, so I'd support a separate page. Does it have a name, other than "the fade"? --Kelcat Talk 02:19, July 18, 2015 (UTC)
Nightmare (Because we don't already have multiple articles with that name). My only concern is that its really just a straightforward corridor mostly broken up by story and there aren't any item drops or unique stuff in it. So that was why I thought maybe we should give it a miss.

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 04:23, July 18, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, that's true, there's nothing lootable there. Loathe as I am to fatten that quest article up any more than it is, it would be nice to have a bit more description about this area. Like, all the people you find in the cells and the fact that they have some interesting dialogue that I think you can miss out on if you light the veilfire torches too quickly. Stuff like that. --Kelcat Talk 23:07, July 18, 2015 (UTC)
You think maybe expand the quest article a bit instead of a new location article then? I've been meaning to go through the main quest articles and give them a bit of a clean up myself, I think there's substantial room for improvement. Listing enemy formations, formatting etc.

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 09:15, July 20, 2015 (UTC)

I think that might be the best solution, because that are is sparse on the article. And I agree, all the main plot quests need cleanup. I've done a bit of punctuation and header clean ups, but haven't really dived in to give it some deep cleanup. Kelcat Talk 10:00, July 20, 2015 (UTC)
Ok so similar question, do you think the Flooded Caves and Rusted Horn Tavern warrant separate location articles for the Still Waters quest warrant individual location articles? I can confirm that the Tavern has one unique codex entry and one unique text in it

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 10:59, July 21, 2015 (UTC)

Flooded cave also an elven artifact for solas' quest, couple of unique texts and some codex entries. Also final question, I swear, do you think the Aspect of Nightmare deserves a separate enemy article? It is a unique boss enemy and I suppose a unique demon in of itself. Or we could merge it into Nightmare's own article. Thoughts?

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 12:09, July 21, 2015 (UTC)

I think separate articles for both areas would be a good idea, since they have items and the Flooded Cave has an elite demon related to Burdens of Command. And I may be remembering wrong, but I think the tavern becomes populated with NPC's after Still Waters is complete. Aspect of the Nightmare is actually an article I had meant to create awhile ago but never got around to. I think it should be separate in order to list stats and possible strategies. --Kelcat Talk 03:47, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
Yeah the Inquisition move into the tavern and a bunch of people take over and use it as...well, a tavern. No named characters to talk to though.

Mobile site graphics Edit

Can anything be done to fix the inline graphics like the coin or the Approval3 image on the mobile site display? They appear tiny and centered on the device screen with no text on either side and large gaps above and below, making the mobile version hard to read when searching from google. --PedanticGamer (talk) 05:35, July 23, 2015 (UTC)

Possibly? I'm not well-versed in template and graphics making when it comes to mobile devices. Your best bet would be to ask User:Tierrie. Easiest way to reach him is when he's on chat, as he's sometimes slow to respond to his talk page. User:Loleil and User:Mostlyautumn are two of our most prolific template makers, so you might try a message on their talk pages. --Kelcat Talk 05:48, July 23, 2015 (UTC)

Regions Quests Edit

Hey do you know what is happening with the Regions in the Approach/Emerald Graves/ETC quests? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 11:56, July 25, 2015 (UTC)

P.S

I also found a bunch of letters and notes in the western approach which aren't tied to a specific quest but sticking them in the gallery for the region seems a dumb idea. I'm leaning towards writing them up and listing them as notes under the codex entries tab. Thoughts? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 12:22, July 25, 2015 (UTC)

Doesn't look like articles were ever made for those quests, someone just linked to the regions in the Collections article. I suppose we should make articles at some point since they are quests.
I'm still against making articles for each and every non-essential note found in the game. A lot of the ones in the Western Approach and elsewhere are just "flavor text", interesting but not necessarily worth adding hundreds of pages for. Anytime I find something useful on one of them like a Grey Warden's name I add that bit of info to a related article like Grey Warden membership and cite that it's from a note in the Western Approach. Did the same with the trophy plaques at the Winter palace. That seems more than sufficient to me. --Kelcat Talk 18:55, July 25, 2015 (UTC)
I'm fine with just uploading images of the texts, I just remain unsure where I should put them. Thoughts?

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 01:18, July 26, 2015 (UTC)

A question of categorization Edit

Hey should the Gibbering Horror be classified as a kind of demon? The codex entry from world of thedas does suggest they're demons of a sort and they are to my knowledge only encountered in the Fade. -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 12:29, July 29, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, I can't think of anything else that would be born of the Fade other than spirits/demons, so I think classifying them as demons makes sense (though I'd keep the creature classification too perhaps). --Kelcat Talk 02:26, July 30, 2015 (UTC)

Giving up on this one person Edit

Hi, Kelcat! Please see http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Dead_Hand . I am not going to bother responding further to 81.141.179.188, whoever they are. If you have a suggested approach here, let me know. DaBarkspawn (talk) 19:33, July 29, 2015 (UTC)

I left a few notes on the talk page hoping to clarify what we're looking for and added a cleanup tag; looks like we are all wanting the article to be improved, so that's good! --Kelcat Talk 02:26, July 30, 2015 (UTC)

Dialogue (cont'd.) Edit

Hey Yuna, since you're the only one who bothered to comment on the dialogue forum post, I figured I'd just write to your talk page. Anyway, I've added some story mission comments to Remarks (like in the Fade, since they're not about the locations per se) and also added Blackwall's speech at Adamant to his Quotes section. Not sure if some of that should be added since it's "cutscene" dialogue, instead of the "zoom in" conversation dialogue, or if there's any particular standard on this, obviously there's no need to reproduce every line of dialogue in the game script. Then I recorded a few gems from my favorite MP kit and just got done jotting them down, but then I thought that maybe we should have dialogue pages for the multiplayer characters, if we don't have one already? Can't seem to find a forum about it or if the idea was already tried and failed, could've sworn I saw a page about it somewhere.

I seem to recall HD3 mentioning something once about creating a multiplayer dialogue page or pages. I don't play MP at all, so I'd suggest getting with him about it. I also finally found a youtube video with all of the Jaws of Hakkon companion remarks, so I'm going to add that stuff to the dialogue pages at some point. --Kelcat Talk 07:53, August 6, 2015 (UTC)

The descent Edit

Hey do you think we should put a {For} disclaimer at the top of the DLC for The Last Descent armour set? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 07:46, August 6, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, we should definitely use the "For" flags on both pages to distinguish them. You don't need to use the template on the actual pages, though, just choose "Flags" from the edit dropdown box. Much easier now! --Kelcat Talk 07:53, August 6, 2015 (UTC)

Destruction Check Edit

Hey have you downloaded the Destruction DLC for multiplayer? Is it installed on your set up? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 00:31, August 7, 2015 (UTC)

Doesn't look like I ever did. I never play MP and my hard drive on my XOne is getting full, so I probably skipped anything I didn't need. --Kelcat Talk 04:18, August 7, 2015 (UTC)
That would actually put you in a position to, somewhat ironically, really help us out with the MP articles. I just need the crafting material requirements for starting armour sets for the multiplayer characters who aren't initially unlocked. Nothing else, just the amount of cloth, metal, leather each one requires. You should be able to view it from the MP menu, it shouldn't require any actual playing of the MP itself. If you wouldn't mind, could you help me out with that please?

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 04:58, August 7, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, I can probably do that. I've got the next couple days off so I'll take a look. --Kelcat Talk 05:30, August 7, 2015 (UTC)
Thanks Kelcat, appreciate it.

Another Input Requested Edit

Do you think the Highest One Despair Demon in the Temple of Dirthamen warrants an individual demon article? It is to my knowledge the only unique Despair demon. Alternatively we could just mention it and link to the quest on the Demons article -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 10:39, August 8, 2015 (UTC)

We've already got an article for it, Highest One, though it still needs work. --Kelcat Talk 19:34, August 8, 2015 (UTC)

Spoiler Tags not working Edit

Hey can you get the spoiler tags on the wiki to display correctly? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 02:08, August 11, 2015 (UTC)

Looks like wikia has been at it again with their changes http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Help:PortableInfoboxes. I went to check out the DAO spoiler tag and to the right it offers the option to migrate the template but I'm kind of scared to mess with it too much. I'll see if I can get in touch with tierrie since he created most of them. --Kelcat Talk 05:07, August 11, 2015 (UTC)
Ugh, its like bloody george lucas constantly tinkering needlessly. Thanks for taking care of this.

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 06:51, August 11, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for looking into that. Also im going to be avoiding the wiki for a little while so I don't spoil 'The Descent' for myself.

Have fun! --Kelcat Talk 02:00, August 12, 2015 (UTC)
Just before I go, the spoiler tags are playing up again. Perhaps we should group sign an angry letter to whoever keeps fiddling with these things.

The Descent Expedition Operations Edit

Hey Kelcat! I don't know if you've started playing the new dlc yet, but they implement something called an Expedition Table, which is basically like the War Table except it operates only within the Deep Roads and these operations ("expeditions") don't appear on the War Table. Should we make a separate article for these to avoid confusion? --FenrirSmallKeladin Storm (Talk) 18:30, August 12, 2015 (UTC)

No, I haven't played it yet. It'll be awhile before I get around to buying it probably! If they're different then I'd recommend a separate page for them, with maybe a link to it on the war table article.
Also I noticed you are adding quite a few of the new codex entries--if you could add them to the main codex articles as well, it'd be greatly appreciated. And just when we almost got caught up with renumbering after Jaws of Hakkon came out! --Kelcat Talk 03:56, August 13, 2015 (UTC)
I think most of the credit for all those codex entries goes to Ssalgnikool, but yeah, I can help add them to the main articles. Smiley I wish they had organized the dlc entries separately from the main ones. Would save us a lot of headaches! - FenrirSmallKeladin Storm (Talk)

Table Headers Edit

Hey Kelcat, the reason I changed the table headers to their current format was to provide more room for the acquisition section, if you take a look at what you changed, it is now a lot harder to read. --Zj24 (talk) 08:10, August 13, 2015 (UTC)

That makes sense. I'm trying to create table headers for everything to make it easier to transfer across multiple pages, but I will fix the percentages to match what you had before. --Kelcat Talk 08:14, August 13, 2015 (UTC)

Deep Roads Edit

Hey can you check out the Deep Roads article. Some new users been splitting it up all over the place and putting through some pretty huge changes. I'd review it myself but i'm really time poor right now. -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 02:31, August 16, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah they started the discussion and then just went ahead and immediately put the changes through unilaterally

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 02:36, August 16, 2015 (UTC)

They're not actually a new user, they've actually contributed quite a lot of Inquisition pages over the last year. Probably just a case of jumping the gun or not understanding proposal processes, which happens. I added my vote to the talk page, though. --Kelcat Talk 03:18, August 16, 2015 (UTC)

Spoilers on Abilities Edit

Hello there! How are you doing? I sent the same message to HD3 but I got not reply so I am sending it over to you too! I was checking the latest wiki pages and I found that the abilities paragraph consumes too much space without being hidden in some form which is kind of unacceptable. Example. I think the Abilities section should be hidden inside spoilers after a specific number of abilities. What do you think? We are also in the wiki skype chat if you want a live discussion! Viktoria Landers 11:29, August 22, 2015 (UTC)

Hey, Viktoria, good to hear from you! I agree with you that the abilities take up too much space; the multiplayer character articles stand out quite a bit especially. I don't know if a spoiler tag would be the best contextually since abilities aren't really "spoilers" per se, but it looks to be the best template available. --Kelcat Talk 04:26, August 23, 2015 (UTC)
What about coming up with a new 'spoiler tag' which has different text to indicate that its just covering the abilities to shorten the article?

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 00:05, September 5, 2015 (UTC)

That was my first idea, but honestly I don't know enough about the spoiler templates to feel comfortable enough attempting it myself. If someone else wants to create one though, I think it would be a workable solution. --Kelcat Talk 02:41, September 5, 2015 (UTC)
I'll post a request on Tierrie and MostlyAutumn's talk pages.

Death by Cheese. Edit

Seems he's reverted a lot, I don't have an account so it'd be tedious for me to go through all of the edits he's reverted. You can just do quick reverts, right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.153.76.148 (talk)

I can, but I've only seen one erroneous (but well-intentioned) undo that I already fixed. Sometimes multiple reverts by a single editor can actually be necessary and shouldn't automatically be considered bad faith. That being said, if you have links to any reverts that you feel were made in error, feel free to list them here and I'll take a look. --Kelcat Talk 04:00, August 26, 2015 (UTC)
Oh, are you talking about all the other language links? I can bring that up to them. Though I don't understand why you're adding links to each and every page on the other language wiki when it's linked to on the main page. There's nothing against the guidelines, but seems like overkill to me. --Kelcat Talk 04:05, August 26, 2015 (UTC)

Table of Contents Edit

Untitled Edit

Hi! I hope I'm not bothering you, but I was really interested in learning something about the CSS you use on the wiki and I was hoping you may be able to help me.

I really like the "splatter" class that's used on infoboxes and templates. I really want to learn how to do that myself, adding backgrounds onto infoboxes and templates like that, and I was able to find the code but I have no idea how it's used or where it's put and how it works with the templates. I was wondering if you knew and could possibly help me to learn? I haven't seen anything like that before and I'm really intrigued!

Thanks for your time!

--ByronWagner (talk) 05:51, September 3, 2015 (UTC)

Hello there! Most of the CSS stuff that you see on the wiki was actually implemented long before my time, and I'm not that learned in the stuff myself! User:Tierrie helped create a lot of it, and may be able to give you some guidance. --Kelcat Talk 21:56, September 3, 2015 (UTC)

WardrobeEdit

With the new wardrobe system, should they be all on one page or should it be like armors where the table pulls information from individual pages? I don't think separate pages would be needed, but with images of the wardrobes having both male/female and all 4 races, I'm not sure what the best way of organizing this is. I figured I'd bump it to a mod for input. Emynii (talk) 22:12, September 3, 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps a layout we use similar to the Mounts article?

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 00:59, September 4, 2015 (UTC)

That's exactly what I was thinking of. We should have separate articles for each of the outfits, with the description, pictures, acquisition, etc. --Kelcat Talk 02:19, September 4, 2015 (UTC)

Inquisition Dragon StrategyEdit

Somewhere after my current run (which I just started new last night), I'd like to do a major refactoring on the dragon strategy. Right now, dragon entries (especially Fereldan Frostback) has text that is very specific to a certain combination of characters. I first thought of this when all of the dragons had basically the same text, though I see now that some nice work has been done to specialize the texts.

Still, I'd like to:

  • refactor the texts out to separate page
  • include more general tips
    • such as anti-{cold,fire} weapons and same-{cold,fire} armor
    • tips based on all types of characters
    • rushing the vortex
  • include specific strategies unique to each dragon

This would be a fair amount of work, so before I dive in: thoughts?

DaBarkspawn (talk) 19:19, September 4, 2015 (UTC)

Do you mean making separate strategy pages for each of the high dragons, like Highlands Ravager (strategy)? I think that could be a good idea if you feel the strategies are going to be long (me, I play on casual, overpower myself and just hack and slash 'til the thing's dead Icon wink). Everything you've listed sounds good to me, and if you're willing to undertake it, I say go for it! --Kelcat Talk 02:41, September 5, 2015 (UTC)
I was going to play the length thing by ear, see how it goes. I'm a casual player, too.  ;) Thanks for the blessing, I'll start taking notes. DaBarkspawn (talk) 02:46, September 5, 2015 (UTC)

Thank you Thank you for fixing the edit I made to the Teagan Guerrin page. I was unable to add the reference to it before some fuck-wit deleted it after I spent hours researching it. Changing War Table Results Edit

Did a patch or something change the results of the operations? Compare Connections_Blades_Hessarian.png where I get all three rewards to An Offer from the Blades of Hessarian where each advisor only gives one and see talk page for Upon the Waking Sea where I got something that wasn't even listed. DaBarkspawn (talk) 05:09, September 10, 2015 (UTC)

Huh, that's strange. There's nothing in the official patch notes that indicates the operation rewards have changed. I'll see if I can dig up a playthrough where I haven't done much war table stuff yet and see what kind of results I get. --Kelcat Talk 07:20, September 10, 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! FWIW, this was in Haven, though I don't know if that makes a difference. DaBarkspawn (talk) 12:17, September 10, 2015 (UTC)

Crossroads Edit

Hi,
I moved the old Crossroads page to the Crossroads (Hinterlands) and fixed all the references (I think there were only 4 of them). Then I tried to rename the newly created [the Crossroads (Fade)] page to the Crossroads, but the wiki won't let me since the old page still existed as a redirect. So I copied all content instead. Can you please help me with two things:

  • Delete [the Crossroads (Fade)] (and it is not even the Fade at all, Morrigan says it back in the Witch Hunt)
  • Remove the hard redirect here - Talk:The Crossroads

PS Sorry for the little mess but I think I sorted out all the references to the new pages, and it's better to do this early than to deal with a multitude of references that would be created later. Asherinka (talk) 22:46, September 11, 2015 (UTC)

Okay, taken care of. I had to delete the Crossroads talk page for some reason, the recreate it, but it should be good to go now. --Kelcat Talk 04:02, September 12, 2015 (UTC)

Notes in Trespasser Edit

I added the short note to the two other ones, then I looked at all the notes listed here and thought that perhaps we could group most of the notes on two pages, something like "Qunari Notes" and "Ancient Memories". What do you think about it?
Also, these two pages can now be deleted safely: [Note: Scrap of Writing from a Ben-Hassrath Agent|1],[Note: Charred Note|2]. Asherinka (talk) 02:26, September 14, 2015 (UTC)

The new notes page looks good, I didn't notice they were from all different locations. I'm all for another page that combines other similar notes; if you think "Ancient Memories" sounds fitting I'm good with that. --Kelcat Talk 20:25, September 14, 2015 (UTC)
I merged four "mosaic" notes into one. They are all found in the same location and all should have the same picture. Even the articles with references to them listed all four in a sequence. I sorted out the references, so these can be deleted: 1, 2, 3, 4 + this redirect page. The new page is Note: Ancient Mosaics. Asherinka (talk) 21:49, September 14, 2015 (UTC)
Looks good, all pages have been deleted. --Kelcat Talk 07:02, September 18, 2015 (UTC)

Supply Cache Listings Edit

Do you think we should list Supply Caches on the Notable Items section for locations? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 06:54, September 14, 2015 (UTC)

Definitely. We should also probably note on the Supply cache page something about that new trial that removes them from the game. Incidentally, do you think we should make an article about the trials? I don't know a whole lot about them as I haven't really tested them yet. --Kelcat Talk 20:25, September 14, 2015 (UTC)
I haven't had a chance to play tresspasser or look at the details yet so I can't voice an opinion myself until then i'm afraid.

Trivia items Edit

Since this is getting us nowhere, could you please share your opinion on the matter? Talk:Ruins of Heidrun Thaig Talk:Valta. Asherinka (talk) 02:50, September 15, 2015 (UTC)

I can't really contribute to the coversation about Valta as I haven't played the DLC, but I offered a bit about the trivia on the other article. --Kelcat Talk 03:39, September 15, 2015 (UTC)

That's not vandalism. The markup price needs to be set in the infobox, but try as I might I haven't been able to figure out what it should be. --Kelcat Talk 01:47, October 12, 2015 (UTC)

Iron Bull Trespasser Codex Entry Not Displaying Properly Edit

Hey Kelcat, as per title, I can't figure out why this codex entry isn't displaying properly. Any ideas? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 13:47, September 21, 2015 (UTC)

There was an error with the template on the codex page, corrected. - Merthos (talk) 14:47, September 21, 2015 (UTC)

Use of Templates Edit

I've noticed that the templates are underutilized here. On my last bigger wiki involvement (http://lastremnant.wikia.com/) we did everything via the templates. For instance on a schematic the following stuff should be handled automatically: style, supertitle, name, type, the intro text, the categories and especially the duplicate and error-prone entry of the acquisition details.

Sample: http://lastremnant.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Dirk
Template: http://lastremnant.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Infobox_Weapon?action=edit

Is there any particular reason for the restricted template use? If it is just lack of knowledge, I could help with that. - Merthos (talk) 16:45, September 21, 2015 (UTC)

There are definitely templates that could be built for Inquisition items that haven't been (see Sigils (Inquisition)) mainly because I am not that good at template creating and we're a bit lacking at the moment on people who are knowledgable about such things.
If I'm understanding you correctly though, you want to build lots of specific templates? Wouldn't that make it more difficult for new users to figure out which of the many different ones they're supposed to use? We're a moderately-busy wiki that sees lots of edits every day by many different people--it's important to make these simplified enough for everyone to use. And looking at your example, it looks like that wiki doesn't utilize very many different categories whereas we make use of tons of subcategories. Kelcat Talk 18:39, September 21, 2015 (UTC)

Having separate templates makes them easier to manage than a single one. So yes, I would separate at least the main "categories" like weapon, armor, material. As for new users, nobody creates an article from scratch, esp. not the infobox ones. You copy and modify an existing one, so nothing changes there. And nothing on the categories used here is special.

Sample (for what I have in mind) - Lyrium-Infused Staff:

{{Weapon
|game = inquision
|dlc = deeproads
|type = staff
|rarity = rare
|icon = Rare-Staff-Icon-3.png
|image = Isana's Song.jpg
|px = 270x360px
|dps = ~130
|level = 26
|damage = ~80 Electricity
|stats         = {{ColorPositiveStat|+34 magic<br>+8 willpower<br>10% chance to inflict chain lightning damage at 75% weapon power}}
|upgrade_slots = None
|runes = Empty Rune
|requires = Level 18
|description =
|value = 1448
|location = [[Deep Roads]]
|acquisition1 = Looted from [[Sha-Brytol]] found in the [[Deep Roads]].
|acquisition2 = Rewarded upon completing [[Deep Roads Expeditions: Patrolling the Bastion of the Pure]]
|item_id =
}}

That would be enough to generate the same page as it is now, including the intro, the acquisition paragraph and all categories. One could also automate the missing info-flags. - Merthos (talk) 11:25, September 22, 2015 (UTC)

Hi! Kelcat asked me to have a look at this, and I'm concerned that we're dealing with a lot more variables than The Last Remnant. Creating a somewhat unwieldy template. Would you be willing to create a mock-up of your template in your sandbox? Friendship smallLoleil Talk 17:18, September 24, 2015 (UTC)

Sure (and no, TLR uses much more variables, e.g. http://lastremnant.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Infobox_item?action=edit has several hundred).

See User:Merthos/Sandbox/Avvar War-Maul and User:Merthos/Sandbox/Lyrium-Infused Staff. The transcludes still work fine, see User:Merthos/Sandbox/Transclude.

The template is Template:WeaponInquisition. It currently handles staff and maul, adding the other types is just a matter extending the switches. The template could be further simplified by adding additional ones for rarity, dlc and stuff, that would "remove" several of the switches. But I will only spend time on that when there is interest at all... - Merthos (talk) 16:48, September 25, 2015 (UTC)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write that up. After having a think and a discussion with our most template savvy admin User:Tierrie, I think it's best we keep the articles and the templates discrete. Friendship smallLoleil Talk 00:37, September 29, 2015 (UTC)

Broken Template? Edit

There is something awkward going on with the quest box for Sit in Judgment. 0 Agent Times Edit

Hey I was going to start up a new human playthrough soon and was wondering if we still need 0 agent times? I can try and keep one or 2 of my advisers agentless (Probs grab belle, unless you'd rather me grab josie's 0 agent times) but I realized that some times literally can't be agentless. Should we treat those that literally can't be agentless (Like sending the agent from fallow mire to Stone Bear Hold) as having the pre requisite agents only, as the agentless times?--BriefSeduction (talk) 03:56, October 12, 2015 (UTC)

Hey! All the operations from the main game should be correct, but we need to verify times on a lot of the operations from Jaws of Hakkon. It would be ideal if we could verify times for all of the advisors because I haven't been able to determine which advisors are the prefered ones for any of the JoH operations, but anything you're able to add would be great!

I'd say that for any operations that can't be agentless, it would be best to treat it as you suggested-- with the "0 time" being the one with the minimum agents necessary to complete it. --Kelcat Talk 07:35, October 12, 2015 (UTC)

Sure thing, I'll see what I can grab. Do the descent operations have times as well? I seem to remember the Silverite one having a timer and grabbing some of those might be really easy at skyhold.--BriefSeduction (talk) 07:54, October 12, 2015 (UTC)
That I'm not sure about, I don't have the Descent yet. --Kelcat Talk 07:56, October 12, 2015 (UTC)
They have. But all of those can only be done with Cullen. - Merthos (talk) 08:36, October 12, 2015 (UTC)
KK I'll take a look at them as well. Are you sure that the base game times are ok? I guess it can't hurt to check, not like it'll take 9 million years. Can just make a save before every point. I was more thinking that the specialization and race specific, post skyhold choices might be wrong. I suppose I can just check anyway.--BriefSeduction (talk) 20:34, October 12, 2015 (UTC)

It's entirely possible that some of the base game operations are incorrect. When I was updating the formatting of all the operations pages I used this list which was extracted from the game files, but I didn't get a chance to go through it line by line to verify all the operations were correctly timed. I think the main thing missing from operations would be acquisition conditions, especially for the race/class/specialization ones. --Kelcat Talk 03:46, October 13, 2015 (UTC)

I know the table on the War Table page has a wrong one but I took a look at editing it and it was a nightmare. It was the chantry remains one, which is fine on the actual page, but on the big table it didn't list the right follow up missions. IIRC josi gives the university of orlais and cullen/liliana give grand cleric iona. Other than that I've been looking, nothing major. Really unless it's a really odd number, or there's 3 different times I'm fairly certain it'll be right. If any are wrong it would probably be a race/class/spec one however, I agree.--BriefSeduction (talk) 12:47, October 13, 2015 (UTC)

Edit: I just got to skyhold so after grabbing champion I'll start on descent and get those times down then move on to hakkon~

Just checking In Edit

Hey Kelcat, just thought I'd drop in and say hello. How's business? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 03:30, October 17, 2015 (UTC)

Doing pretty good! Focusing on work and school work at the moment, so I'm not getting a lot done on the wiki. How are things with you? --Kelcat Talk 22:48, October 17, 2015 (UTC)

Is it possible tresspasser changed some war table times? Edit

Considering how long this game's been out I find it odd to think we haven't gotten the 0 agent time for the Vercheil mission but with 0 agents my time is shorter. I also seem to remember it being slightly more than 24 mins on my other playthrough so...? not sure how to go about testing that but it'll be a headache if true.--BriefSeduction (talk) 08:37, October 17, 2015 (UTC)

I believe the Trespasser DLC does change several things in the game including armor stats, purchase price and resale value, please see: Orlesian Army Battlemage Armor, Heavy Armor of the Dragon or Avvar Armor. I noted the differences under notes. How do you prefer we proceed with the new values/stats Kelcat? --Zj24 (talk) 18:13, October 17, 2015 (UTC)
Well this is going to be a major headache. Zj24: take a look at the changes I made to Orlesian Army Battlemage Armor and see what you think about the formatting of the stats, and the note. We can't have two values listed (I tried and it broke the coding) so I'd say put the base game value in the infobox and the DLC value in notes like you did.
BriefSeduction: I'm going through a completely new playthrough to see what changes there are in regards to war table operations, but I'm playing with agents so I haven't paid attention to changes in times. If there is a change, it doesn't look significant, but it's going to be a slog if we have to reverify everything. If that's the case, I suggest creating a forum topic to see if we can get some heads together and see what's what. Kelcat Talk 22:48, October 17, 2015 (UTC)
Got it. If that one specifically has changed then I'll make it but as of now it's probably nothing. I'll check any armor or weapons before I sell them as well. If I'm info gathering might as well go all the way, eh? If you notice in your playthrough that verchelle is above 24 mins however even with agents then we'll have a problem.--BriefSeduction (talk) 23:16, October 17, 2015 (UTC)
Hey Kelcat, tell me which version you prefer better for Trespasser: Orlesian Army Battlemage Armor or Heavy Armor of the Dragon. --Zj24 (talk) 06:18, October 18, 2015 (UTC)
I like the way the stats are listed on Orlesian Army Battlemage Armor. --Kelcat Talk 01:42, October 19, 2015 (UTC)

Admin intervention Edit

Just a heads up, http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:Arrogant_mages:_Vivienne_vs_Dorian?t=20151021224016 is starting to spiral, me and Silver Warden tried, but I fear anything else I say is going to just continue to derail the conversation and may need an Admin's touch. College Mage: Ferris (talk) 23:48, October 21, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up, I'll take a look at it. --Kelcat Talk 04:23, October 22, 2015 (UTC)

Codex Overhaul Edit

Hey, I think we may need to launch a new collaborative project to fix up the codex entries for Inquisition. With the addition of Jaws of Hakkon and Trespasser, many of the numbers are now inaccurate and a lot of variations of texts are still missing, but I think the project is too big for one user to handle -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 00:06, October 23, 2015 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea. The Jaws of Hakkon numbers have been added to all codices except for Tales, so there's not a lot of those to update, but we definitely need to add most of The Descent (which I don't have so can't contribute to) and Trespasser. I don't know that there are a lot of codices still missing text but if we can get a list it may help users know where we still need help. --Kelcat Talk 00:26, October 23, 2015 (UTC)
I know there was one in trespasser about wages? Some of the codex entries may change based on when you look at them or may update when you look at them. >.> Which would be a pain.--BriefSeduction (talk) 22:48, October 25, 2015 (UTC)
Man, it's like BioWare didn't even take the wikia into consideration when designing this game given how many headaches they've caused us Icon wink If they do indeed change based on when you read them then I have no idea how we'll adress that. --Kelcat Talk 02:29, October 26, 2015 (UTC)
I think we got all of the ones on the wages between nobles (I forget what it was called) but you could check that one each time it changed. Maybe check all of them after each story progression? I feel like that would be the most through solution if nothing else. Maybe save check, reload, progress, rinse repeat?--BriefSeduction (talk) 02:36, October 26, 2015 (UTC) Edit: This one. http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Codex_entry:_Wager_Notes How's that look?

Unacceptable?Edit

Please explain to me what I did in this forum http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:Arrogant_mages:_Vivienne_vs_Dorian?t=20151021224016 that was unacceptable.

The gist of what I said was a complaint that Viviannes character were too flat, partly due to the lack of a backstory-rphb- (talk) 13:19, October 24, 2015 (UTC)

You continually used the derogatory term "negro" and insisted that a person of color's presence in the game must be justified. You argued with multiple people who tried to reason with you and diffuse the situation, you referred to an entire country as "land of the slaves and home of the cowards" and derided political correctness. You veered completely off the main topic, which was about a character's personality and turned into a rant about race and nationality. The fact that another admin had to completely lock down the thread solely because of your negative attitude is a pretty clear indication that your behavior is unacceptable. --Kelcat Talk 18:04, October 24, 2015 (UTC)
1) A negro in a europeanlike medieval setting DOES need to be justified, the same way that a Caucasians presence would have to be justified if the story took place in an oriental china like setting, simply because their presence is so unusual.
I use the term "negro" because it is the most precise word to describe the race. Calling a spade a spade is simply the truth, and people have no right to be insulted by that, I was neither attacking nor demeaning anyone, I was simply being frank.
2) If people hadn't overreacted over what I said, but had argued constructively with me, the conversation would not have spiralled "out of control" as thou said, which was really just to point out a critical flaw in Viviannes character that no one else seemed to have addressed. I even pointed out an example of another negro character that had the necessary backstory, that were written well
3) Free speech a universal right, and I consider myself a champion for it, people did not argue with me, they did the opposite, they tried to silence me, and I say "argue" because "reason" is something one does to a little child that is being difficult, that is demeaning, it demean the others viewpoint to that of a little child, (but be free to dispute that).
4) "land of the slaves and home of the cowards", is a caricature of Americas founding principles, because political correctness more then anything, is the cause of what this once proud and admirable nation is morphing into. Just look at this disturbing headline from today's Zerohedge http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-10-25/death-first-amendement-majority-college-students-now-favor-regulation-free-speech
51% of US college students in favour of abolishing the first amendment, the American manifestation of this universal right.-rphb- (talk) 22:18, October 25, 2015 (UTC)
Congrats, rphb, you've got me irritated enough to come out of exile.
1) This may not have occurred to you, but Thedas is not Earth. There is absolutely no reasons to use charged words loaded with Terran historical context to describe the skin color of individuals. Both 'Negro' and, incidentally, 'spade' are considered offensive terms (e.g., https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spade#Other_uses_of_the_term ) by the people they describe. It doesn't matter if you consider them offensive or not, it is the recipient. This has absolutely nothing to do with PC-ism and rather more to do with the (apparently not so) common courtesy of not be an offensive jerk. Speaking of Terra versus Thedas, we have absolutely no understanding of human racial distributions on Thedas. There is absolutely no reason to believe that migrations producing a more heterogeneous society could not have occurred on Thedas prior to their reaching a medieval technology and government. There is no reason to classify her as exotic.
2) Someone who uses the phrase "fucking negro" doesn't get to call other people out on overreacting. You threw the first punches. You caused that reaction.
3) You clearly haven't actually read the First Amendment. Allow me to quote it for you: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. That is to say that the First is only binding on the Government as it restricts the kinds of laws that Congress can make. It has absolutely no jurisdiction over privately owned spaces such as this Wiki or the Forums. None. My recommendation to you is that before you decide you are self-proclaimed champion of something, you should probably try and understand it first.
4) You also don't get to call out others as overreacting when you admittedly caricature them. You are trolling and got a response. If you don't like the response, stop trolling people.
One of the things that I cherish about the Dragon Age franchise, from the beginning in DAO, is how, despite the terrible evils that confront Thedas, it is still a utopia that some can look up to. Codex_entry:_Sexuality_in_Thedas shows a world that is considerably more enlightened that most of Terra. I want to live in a world where a person's skin color or romantic interests or whatever is completely irrelevant. Not only is the lack of a 'backstory' for her skin color not provided, I kinda hope that that was a deliberate design on BioWare's part: people judge Vivienne based on what she says and does and that's the way it should be for everyone. DaBarkspawn (talk) 00:50, October 26, 2015 (UTC)
I appreciate that this is important to you dabarkspawn, but I'd prefer to avoid arguments between other users on my talkpage Smiley.
rphp, this is not up for discussion. You have been given a warning for your behavior and continuing to argue about it is not going to do you any good. Please take the time to read our forum guidelines and make a concerted effort to abide by them, because they 'will' be enforced. Freedom of speech is not relevent to a private website. We are not required to allow you to say whatever you want when it winds up being insulting and/or hurtful to others. --Kelcat Talk 01:49, October 26, 2015 (UTC)

1) A spade is an instrument used to dig in dirt, it looks a little like a shovel, its just more straight, how can that possibly be offensive?
I repeat Negro is an objective way to describe a certain race, and she is the only one that have so far appeared in the series.
And as I have said before, seeing as it is something rare, there need to be an explanation for why she is there.
2) I could have said freaking negro, I just as a principle want to be as blunt and direct as possible, it was just an expression to underline the rareness of it in the setting, but I can see how it can be misconstrued.
3) That comment was about the article that I refereed to, as I said PC liberal arts students in America 51% WANTS to abolish the 1st amendment. Yes this law protects the people of USA from government censorship, but censorship in any form is evil, and if people have been sufficiently conditioned to accept censorship of expression, then they will be less inclined to protest over a general ban over freedom of speach, already it is a huge problem with certain smart phones that auto censor curse words out of sms.
4) DA was never thought of as a utopia and is anything but, the "attitudes" about sexuality aperent in the franchise is a direct result of PC'ing, as is Vivianne, who could just as easily have been a blonde Caucasian, it have also gotten worse since DA:O, where it was apparent that other characters were actually surprised about an NPC's bisexuality where in DA:I it is now completely natural.
I don't want to get into the subject of the validity of these attitudes, but I would have preferred a much darker take where people had been much more brutally oppressed to generate sympathy from the player as it is all about telling a compelling story
5) "Not up for debate"
That's a really sad statement, I cannot imagine anything worse, everything ought to be up to debate, to declare that something is not, is an authoritarian statement of a dictator, to shut up descent, and people whose opinions deviate from the norm, little will happen in a small internet wiki such as this, but we have already seen what happens in real life when people are ignored and silenced in the name of political correctness. In Sweden, possibly the most PC nation on Earth, a dozen fugitive centers have been burned down in arson attack, because their government refuses to acknowledged the reality of the situation, and its media refuses to even talk about it.
My point is, anything not up for debate, usually ends in violence.
As I said, nothing will happen in this wiki, but attitudes are something we take with us, and in other situations, things can end up becoming really nasty, think about it.-rphb- (talk) 02:17, October 26, 2015 (UTC)

Kelcat has asked me to stop, so I will. DaBarkspawn (talk) 02:20, October 26, 2015 (UTC)

You must be a joy at parties. You've been asked by an authority figure to stop. You should probably stop.--BriefSeduction (talk) 02:24, October 26, 2015 (UTC)

All right, comparing my unwillingness to listen to you repeatedly argue against a warning (on a video game discussion board) to people committing arson and other violence and insinuating that I may in the future commit acts of violence is not in any way okay. You've crossed the line and I'm blocking you for 30 days. If you object, you are free to contact any of the other admins to appeal. --Kelcat Talk 02:26, October 26, 2015 (UTC)

Elemental 2H Weapon schematics Edit

Hi there. I've been running tests on the Elemental 2H weapons and updating the Schematic pages with my findings.

While I understand that the schematic pages should contain details about the schematic, the way the Wiki is set up is by convention is that it links to the 'Non-crafted weapon' if it exists.

I believe that damage modifiers have a place in the schematic page as well as on the actual weapon's page.

1) When obtaining the schematic, the player would want to look at the schematic page to know if it's worth crafting. Having the damage modifiers on the schematic page would help players understand what they're crafting.

2) The modifiers describe both the crafted weapon and the Non-crafted weapon. Any overachieving DAI player would know that non-crafted weapons are typically weaker than a Tier 3 crafted counterpart,as such, there is no incentive to go to the non-crafted weapon page. Players might not find the information they want to know if the weapon is worth crafting.

3) The schematic pages don't have weapon details as their stats are customizable by the different crafting materials, details are stated on a Crafting page. However, effects that are common across all crafted weapons should have their specifications detailed on the schematic page as these effects affect any outcome of the crafted weapon.

Hope you will consider this. I would like to revert the Greatsword and Greataxe schematic pages to add their damage modifiers.

If this is not agreeable to you, I would like to modify the reference to their Non-crafted versions to reflect that the non-crafted page also details their damage modifiers.

'For damage modifiers or the non-crafted version, see Chromatic Greataxe' or something to that effect. --Ward Point (talk) 01:40, November 3, 2015 (UTC)

If the effects on the crafted version are significantly different than the non-crafted version than I can see the value of adding a (short) note about that to the schematics page. However, I don't see a need to have duplicate information on both pages (especially when the notes are so long). The recipe article is for people to reference what materials are needed in order to craft the weapon. To find out the specifics of the weapon to be crafted, they need only click on the link to the weapon that is at the top of all of the schematics pages ("for the non-crafted version see X").
I also don't see the need to make an exception for two specific items but leave all the others the same. If you think there is a need to change how we format all of the schematics pages I suggest creating a forum topic to see what others think. My personal opinion though is that it's best to have them on separate articles for clarity and concision.
If I'm misunderstanding and these two items are special cases (I've never gotten either recipe, then perhaps opening discussions on their specific talk pages would suffice, to see what others who do have the weapons think about it. --Kelcat Talk 04:31, November 3, 2015 (UTC)

I see your point on not wanting to repeat information, and I will accept your judgement.

However, I think that these two specific items are unique enough in their effects that an exception should be made for them to make a slight change to just the very top line to say that there ARE damage modifiers present, and for more information, one should go to the non-crafted version to read up on those modifiers as I have proposed, in the first post. Alternatively, a note about damage modifiers under 'Notes' could provide a redirect to the crafted version so that no information is repeated.

In Inquisition, at the very least, these two weapons are unique in the way they add an extra hit entirely to all attacks, including proc-ed Masterwork effects, and not just simply 'proc' an effect like a Masterwork. I feel that it is prudent to actively encourage a player who is looking to craft these weapons to actively look for the damage modifiers associated with these two weapons.

As a player, while using this wiki, I'm not actively encouraged to look at non-crafted versions as I generally know that they're weaker when compared to Tier 3 Crafted weapons, as such I have no incentive to look at them. Making a note about 'For Damage modifiers, refer to the non-crafted version' would point me in the right direction. This is just my experience when using this wiki, and if you feel that this is not so, I will accept it. --Ward Point (talk) 05:04, November 3, 2015 (UTC)

Multiplayer Armor Edit

I remembered what I needed your help with for the multiplayer! We still need the list of crafting materials (number of cloth, metal and leather) required for the initial armour sets for the unlockable characters. I can't check them because I've already crafted them all but if you haven't yet, you should still be able to select the craft armour option and then check the list. You don't need to actually be able to craft the armour, we just need the list of required items.

The sets we still need the list for are as follows:

Ahh, okay. I've got Thanksgiving holiday coming up so I'll see if I can fiddle around in MP. --Kelcat Talk 06:02, November 8, 2015 (UTC)

Trespasser Edit

Also when you get around to playing trespasser, let me know because I need to discuss something in it with another editor. -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 08:35, November 7, 2015 (UTC)

I've played through it once already. --Kelcat Talk 06:02, November 8, 2015 (UTC)
Have you got a save where you're in The Darvaarad ?

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 01:04, November 9, 2015 (UTC)

Surprisingly enough, I actually do. It's in the research tower next to the golden nug. --Kelcat Talk 19:14, November 11, 2015 (UTC)
Ok if you go to the research tower, check the back cell by the fen'harel statue. Look at the bookcase, the one with all the magical objects on the shelves. Look at the bottom shelf. Tell me what the broken fragments on the bottom shelf look like to you.

Also congratulations on making 20k edits!

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 11:57, November 16, 2015 (UTC)

Any progress on this?

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 07:35, December 8, 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, been busy with end of semester and a nasty cold. Are you talking about the one with the skull on the top shelf? I can't zoom in very far on my XBox so I can't really see what's on the bottom shelf, except the green glowy crystal thing. I see black fragments next to it but can't make them out very well. --Kelcat Talk 01:08, December 13, 2015 (UTC)

No i actually meant the fragments. I don't know if you can make it out as clearly on console, but on PC those are clearly the fragments of the Orb of Fen'Harel.

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 02:45, December 13, 2015 (UTC)

I dunno. The pieces look to me to be shiny, like obsidian. And iirc the pieces of the broken orb that Solas picked up looked to be of a duller stone. I may be remembering wrong, but I'd say it's open to interpretation. --Kelcat Talk 03:27, December 13, 2015 (UTC)
Yeah see this is why I wanted to get a hi-res screenshot because it the lighting makes it kind of hard to tell on console or with the settings set lower. I'll get a screenshot eventually and one of the broken orb from just after the death of corypheus so i can put them side by side.

Trifles Image? Edit

I'm quite new to editing this Wiki, so I may have missed something important, but in what way was the image I supplied illustrating how Trifles Minutiae seems stuck "extremely low quality"?

Just not high enough resolution? Did I format it wrong on the page?

The guidelines don't specify what is actually required in any quantitative sense, so I'm not sure what the minimum requirement actually is for an illustrative image.

--EmberLeo (talk) 10:40, November 17, 2015 (UTC)

Extremely may have been a bit of an overstatement, sorry about that. There are quite a few issues with the image. It's fairly blurry, especially the left portion--it's most notable in the lettering. The color also seems off. It should indeed be of high resolution, and under normal circumstances the character's name and the "selection" button shouldn't be visible, but I can see that's necessary to emphasize how you can see him if he's stuck. Is this a screenshot from the PC version of the game? You may want to look into using a different screencap program. --Kelcat Talk 10:56, November 17, 2015 (UTC)
Alas, it's not a proper screen shot at all, I must admit. I couldn't get that to work, so I actually photographed my screen with my phone and cleaned it up as best as I could in photoshop. I didn't know third-party screen capture programs were an option. I had hoped that, since it was to demonstrate a bug, rather than prove how beautiful Thedas is, it would be sufficient.
If I can get back to those circumstances I'll try for a better image with a screen cap program, but is that not enough pending better? It *does* illustrate what's described, and perhaps more clearly than text alone? --EmberLeo (talk) 12:04, November 17, 2015 (UTC)

New Spoiler Tag for MageKiller Needed Edit

Who is handling the creation of new spoiler tags these days anyway? -Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 23:29, December 16, 2015 (UTC)
