In the IGN livestream which just finished Mike Laidlaw confirmed that the male human mage companion is named Dorian and is a native of the Tevinter Imperium. He also mentioned that there will be a mage-based faction which Dorian has links with through his teacher, Alexius, who is the apparent leader of the as yet unnamed faction. reexamining the stream I noticed Tervinter symbols, which suggests the faction may be the Venatori
