Dragon Age 3 officially announced ![]

After nearly 2 months of the release of their game Dragon Age 2, BioWare has finally hinted / spoken about the next in the series.

Senior Director for Creative Development Alistair McNally tweeted that he was looking for environment artists to work with them at their Edmonton, Canada headquarters on the next Dragon Age game.

I’m looking for exceptional environment artists to join me at #BioWare Edmonton, Canada to work on #DragonAge3#gamejobs#jobs#3D#artists

While the bar for RPG games has definitely risen following the release of many titles this year, BioWare will surely looking forward to pulling off something very unique with their next title to stay in the race.

Possible locations[]

Enchantment! If the lovable dwarf Sandal is any indication we already know where Dragon Age 3 (or whatever it will be titled) will take place. Towards the end of Dragon Age 2, Bodhan (Sandal's father figure) mentions that Sandal has an offer to go to Orlais from the Empress herself.

Dragon Age fans love the dwarf duo, and Sandal is an essential part of the game as he provides both comic relief and vital enchanting skills.

Andraste's Voice The Grand Cathedral -- along with The Divine -- is located in Orlais. With all the Circle mages rebelling and even some Templars revolting against their own order, it seems clear that the world's conflict would eventually go directly to the source.

The Divine is also fairly old and close to death, which adds to the tension in the area.

Your former party member in Origins, Leliana (a native Orlesian), has become the left-hand (a.k.a. the enforcer) of The Divine. Although given her past, it's unlikely that she would replace The Divine, it's obvious she will be an important part of rebuilding the Chantry.

If you're confused, some of this information is revealed through the downloadable content The Exiled Prince.

I hope there are ogres in Orlais...

A Possible War If Alistair was crowned King in your game of Dragon Age: Origins, then he'll appear in the Third Act of the game and mention trouble with Orlais. He reveals that some Orlesians are attempting to reclaim their "lost province", a.k.a. Ferelden. Orlais has become unstable, though Alistair insists that Empress Celene is doing her best to deal with the situation.

A Mysterious Child At the end of Dragon Age: Origins you had the choice of sleeping with Morrigan (or making Alistair sleep with her if you were a female) as a part of a dark ritual. The soul of the Archdemon would go into the child and it would become an old god. Morrigan leaves after the child is conceived, and according to the epilogue of Origins, a woman fitting her description was spotted heading over the Frostback Mountains. For those unfamiliar with the geography of the Dragon Age universe, Orlais is on the other side of the Frostback Mountains(although the WITCH HUNT DLC has added even more reliablity on this fact).

When asked about the chances of Dragon Age 3 taking place in Orlais, Bioware responded with: "We think Orlais is a fascinating culture and will likely visit there at some point, but we make no promises."

Sounds like it's a definite possibility, if not for a full standalone title at least an expansion like Awakening. What do you think?
