Traps are a Girl's Best Friend is a side quest requiring the Warden to make or obtain three Spring Traps for Allison in Lothering. Allison has heard that Barlin is setting traps around his land to protect himself from the darkspawn, and she wants to protect herself in a similar fashion. Since Barlin has all the traps in the village, she requests the creation of three Spring Traps.

Walkthrough

The Warden can only start this quest if a team member knows something about traps. If Allison is approached without a skilled party member along, the dialogue leads nowhere and the quest can never be obtained—she will not respond again.

If the quest can be started, the Warden should head to Dane's Refuge, buy three Trap Triggers from Barlin, use them to make three spring traps, and then return to Allison to complete the quest.

Note: Players must not fail a stealing attempt in Lothering prior to starting the quest or Allison will refuse to speak to them at all.
Note: Players cannot initiate combat with the refugees who want a bounty on The Warden, or Allison will become scared of you, and refuse to accept any more traps.

Rewards

  • 50 Silver
  • 100 XP for each character

Exploits

A useful glitch for gaining easy levels and money is to purchase all the Trap Triggers that Barlin has and make as many Spring Traps as possible and sell them to Allison. She'll continue to pay 50 Silver and the Warden will still receive experience for each set of three. The exploit may be continued indefinitely by making further purchases, as Barlin's supply of Trap Triggers is unlimited. This path is a good money maker too. For a stack of 99 traps you can walk away with 16Gold50Silver. At only 2Gold57Silver for 99 triggers you offset your cost after only 15 traps, the rest is full profit.

To trigger the glitch you have to start conversation with Allison twice after giving her the first three spring traps and thus completing the quest. The first time she will just thank you, the second time, she will start asking about traps again.
