The Prisoner is a side quest in Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. The cell guard informs the Warden-Commander that a man was caught sneaking around the keep before the attack. Since it took four Grey Wardens to bring him down, he is clearly no simple thief. It is up to the Warden-Commander to decide what to do with him.
Depending on your choices, a new companion may be recruited.
Walkthrough[]
Enter the dungeon, and have a chat with the prisoner, Nathaniel Howe, who is revealed to be Arl Rendon Howe's son.
You have four options:
- Invoke the Right of Conscription, thus making him a Grey Warden and a companion.
- Let him leave with his confiscated belongings, which are the items inside the chest marked "Prisoner's Effects."
- Set him free.
- Hang him.
Result[]
If he is conscripted into the Grey Wardens, he will go through the Joining and survive.
If you decided to let him go (with or without his belongings), you will meet Nathaniel in a random encounter during one of your travels to or from Vigil's Keep. His fate may still be decided upon meeting him.
