The Prisoner is side quest in Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. The cell guard informs that a man, Nathaniel, was caught sneaking around the keep before the attack. Since it took four Grey Wardens to bring him down, he is clearly no simple thief. It is up to the Warden-Commander to decide what to do with him.
Depending on your choices, Nathaniel may be recruited as a companion.
Walkthrough
Enter the dungeon, and have a chat with the prisoner, Nathaniel, who is revealed to be Arl Rendon Howe's son.
You have four options:
- Invoke the Right of Conscription, thus making him a Grey Warden and a companion.
- Let him leave with the family relics, which are the items inside the chest marked "Prisoner's Effects."
- Set him free.
- Hang him.
Result
If he is conscripted to the Grey Warden, he will go through the Joining and survive.
If you decided to let him go (with, or without his family's relics), you will meet Nathaniel in a random encounter during one of your travel to Vigil's Keep. His fate may still be decided upon meeting him.
