Background
Speak to the prisoner
A man was caught sneaking around the keep before the attack. Since it took 4 Grey wardens to bring him down, he is clearly no simple thief. speak to him in the basement dungeon
Walkthrough
Enter the basement dungeon and have a chat with Nathaniel Howe
You have three options
- 1st Invoke the right of conscription (making him a Grey warden and party member)
- 2nd Let him leave with the family relics ( boots, clothes of the Howe's)
- 3rd Hang Him
If you choose the 1st option (making him a Grey Warden and party member) he will survive the Grey Warden's Ritual (drinking darkspawn's blood) and immediately join your party without any negative disapprovement from any of your party member.
"In case you let Nathaniel leave with his family belongings he will not be recruitable immediately.
After travelling around a bit ( In my game he shows up after saveing the girl, and than doing the clearing the farm from darkspawn quest, than travelling to Amaranthine)he will show up in a random encounter and say he want to join your cause and become a grey warden.
At that time I had only 2 party members except Nathaniel: Oghren and Anders. Both of them disapproved greatly (-7 for Ogren, -5 for Anders) for accepting Nathaniel.
In this random encounter there is still the possibility to reject his demands or not accept him as party member." Future testing is needed for the above so treat these few words with a bit of salt...
