The Lady's Rest

The Lady's Rest is an island located off of the southeastern coast of the Frostback Basin.

Background[]

The island is home to many spirits which the Avvar avoid. However, Professor Bram Kenric believes the island holds clues of the whereabouts to the last resting place of Inquisitor Ameridan. The Inquisitor learns that Telana, Ameridan's lover, traveled there to dream in order to search for Ameridan after he disappeared. Telana, however, never left the island; a spirit which she attracted waits there to be discovered.

In order to get to the island, the Inquisitor must use the boat belonging to fisherman Arvid Rolfsen. He will inform them that the island belongs to the Lady of the Skies and that the Avvar avoid it at all costs. He says he can only allow the use of the boat as long as the Inquisitor obtains permission from Thane Svarah Sun-Hair. After heading back to Stone-Bear Hold and speaking to Svarah Sun-Hair, she will grant the Inquisitor "Guest" status, which allows for the use of the boat.

In the tent near the dock is a chest containing a letter; it reads:

The Barbarians are afraid to go to this island. I can see why, with all the spirits, but it's completely safe. I was out there myself for a good half hour, and the spirits never bothered me.
Steal one of the Avvar boats and set up a camp. This route will bypass all the taxes, and with Avvar and spirits all around, nobody in their right mnd will track us here.
I know how you feel about demons, but trust me. This is completely safe. Peaceful, even. All you have to do is relax on that island and wait for goods to come your way.

Also found on the island is the Stone Giants landmark, which unlocks the Codex entry: Tale of Hryngnar, Ice-Troll, and further inland in the destroyed shack, the Codex entry: Unfallen Shack.

Slightly northeast of the landmark, below the cliffs at sea level, lies a small unmarked cave. Inside the cave is a skeleton sitting on a throne with a scroll on its lap and surrounded by large piles of treasure. Reading the scroll unlocks the Codex entry: Ballad of the Murderer's Gold. Looting the treasure nets significant amounts of coin but when disturbed will spawn five elite-ranked despair demons at level 30.

As the Inquisitor explores The Lady's Rest they can hear Telana speaking these words:

This blood... my blood? No, I can't... Ameridan... Ameridan, why?
I can't... not without...
Vhenan... I'm... dreaming...
Sleep. I need to... I must find you...
