The Heart of the Titan is a companion quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Harding gets an alarming sense from deep below her feet that whatever sinister force was trying to take her over in the Deep Roads has taken Stalgard and some of the other Kal-Sharok dwarves. Both her and Rook know it's a trap but Harding would never just abandon her new friends to this fate.
Acquisition[]
Walkthrough[]
Harding must once again return to the Deep Roads to rescue newfound friends and confront the sinister force haunting her.
Find the missing dwarves[]
Gather the loot around the first area including the smaller chamber on the left-hand side (containing Miner's Talisman) before following Harding down. Speak to her as she's found some traces of the missing dwarves. Continue on into the next building and through the doors into an old mine. Harding finds a passage into the deep roads using her stone magic down a slope. Through there follows a series of drops into the deep roads where Harding finds more traces of the missing. Move on deeper in to find a strange rock formation made of red lyrium and a small chest (Old Reliable). Disturbingly, Harding senses that someone is trapped inside the stone and opening it triggers a cutscene with a surprisingly alive dwarf. She recalls how she and the rest of her patrol saw a red, weeping shadow before she was enclosed in the stone.
The path takes the team left from here, over a ledge and down even deeper into the earth and into an area full of old mining equipment. Across a bridge are a series of suspicious dragging scuffmarks. In that area, shoot down a ladder and climb up. Loot that area, including a small hidden chest (Jumper's Binding) in the left alcove. Turn around and climb up on the ledge above the area with the scuff marks. At the point with the broken bridge, do not jump across but instead jump down straight ahead to find a hidden area with a locked chest (Paragon's Silent Gaze) and a small chest (Plate of the Paragon Unyielding) on a small ledge along the cliff edge.
Continue out and climb up to the broken bridge again but jump across this time where Harding reports that she senses another trapped person nearby. Slide down the ledge here and defeat the demons, one of which drops Repulse, then free the captive dwarf. Open the stone passage to the left of that dwarf to reach another bridge. Ignore the chest on the ledge to the left for now and continue forward to an area with more demons. Use Harding's ability to climb the big cliff face and move along the edge to a small passageway.
Squeeze through, but squeeze through another opening immediately to the left behind a set of breakable planks. Drop down and loot a small chest to the left, just before the chasm with the movable stone, then use that stone to jump across. At the very end of the passage is the chest (Frontline Plated Mail) previously ignored. Activate a zipline that leads back to an earlier area but don't use it - it's faster to jump down left of the chest and climbing back up to where the small hidden passageway is located. Then continue forward from there and take a right to free another trapped dwarf.
Open another passage, loot the area then use Hardings magic again across the bridge. Just as she's about to, the tunnel mysteriously opens on it own. This takes the team even deeper down to a rage demon. Defeat it to finally find Stalgard trapped in crystal. He gives more vague details of what happened to his patrol and confirm their suspicions that they was used to bait Harding down.
Confront the Titan's shade[]

Harding knows it's a trap but wants to confront this mysterious shade anyway or risk be haunted by it forever. In the next room becomes undeniable that they are, in fact, standing inside a long-dead titan as it's heart, spine, ribcage and veins make up the chamber. Enter the obvious arena to face the shade.
In a cutscene, the Titan's shade appears and she looks exactly like Harding but made from red lyrium - though Harding points out that it is not blighted Red lyrium but simply "angry" regular Lyrium. The two mirror images engage in a struggle, Harding trying to calm her own manifested rage with her innate compassion as Rook and the remaining companion fight off the shade's minions below. Eventually Rook manages to climb up to where Harding is and confronts her rage. Rook can encourage Harding to either honor the Titan's rage or to supress it within her own compassion. Regardless, Rook manages to calm her down and resolve situation. Either through comradery together with the other companion, or through love if they are in a romance. In that case, Rook will embrace Harding, resulting in them getting lyrium poisoning but Harding calms down enough to save them with her magic.
Collect the big chest (Plate of the Paragon Unyielding, again) then speak to Harding to return to the Lighthouse.
