The Chant in the Deeps is a side quest from Brother Burkel in Orzammar Commons.
Background
Brother Burkel, standing near the exit to Dust Town, wants to bring the message of the Maker to the dwarves by opening a Chantry in the dwarven kingdom. The Warden can help him to do so by approaching the Shaper of Memories and convincing him to give his permission to open a Chantry.
If you refuse to assist Brother Burkel by telling him that he should not interfere with the dwarves existing religion, he will become unhappy and say that he doesn't need the Warden's help. If this is done, you will not be able to talk to him again.
Walkthrough
Shaper Czibor during the quest.
- Get the quest from Brother Burkel, standing near the exit to Dust Town.
- Travel to the Shaperate, located in the east of the Diamond Quarter.
- Talk to Shaper Czibor. The Warden can use coercion (persuasion or intimidation), or if you have enough cunning, you will get one more option. These three options lead to the same point: Brother Burkel will be allowed to preach.Note: If you cannot persuade Shaper (no coercion or cunning possible) go back to Brother Burkel and tell him about it. He will accept the fact and the quest will end. No experience points awarded.
- Go back to Brother Burkel and talk to him.
Result
Brother Burkel is delighted with the result and invites The Warden to attend his first meeting in the newly formed Orzammar Chantry.
- 100 experience points.
- In the epilogue it is revealed that his chantry attracted many converts among the dwarves. However, this causes problems. The Chantry followers are attacked and Brother Burkel killed. After this, the Chantry considers leading an Exalted March against the dwarves. (Confirmation needed)
