The Bereskarn is So Close You Can Smell It is a limited event card in Dragon Age: The Last Court. It occurs after achieving 20 Closing In with A bereskarn as the chosen quarry. To hunt bereskarn A Terror from the Woods Market Day Card is needed.

Description[]

Leaves shake from the trees. Two trees lean apart as the bereskarn pushes its hulking shoulders between them. Its spines shred the undergrowth. It roars: the sound of thunder, if thunder were mad.

You have found your quarry!

Available actions[]

1.

Ready your spear
It will be a difficult fight.
Difficulty: Derring-Do*?

Success: A brief clash
You are ready, your spear set. The beast charges full onto it, impaling itself in its frenzy. Its claws tear gouts of mossy soil from the forest floor. Its lifeblood pumps onto your boots. Its jaws clash, but you grit your teeth, tighten your grip and keep them at bay. When they fall still you draw a knife and claim the head and spines as trophies.
Your men have to prise you free from the corpse. To release your tension you cut the beast's head - and venom sacs - from its neck.
+3 Trophies, +10 Dignity, -5 Peril

Failure: Trading blows
Your spear takes it in the side. Its claws rake red pain across your arm. Each injured, you withdraw into the trees to nurse your wounds. You hear it lumbering away. Once you've staunched the bleeding, you pull out your knife and renew the hunt.
If you can catch the beast again, you can bring it down.
-30 Health, Your quarry is wounded! If you can catch it again, you can end the hunt, - Closing In

2.

Leap on its back
This ends now.
Difficulty: Derring-Do*?
[Requires Failure in Option 1 above]

Success: Victory
The beast's strength slowly fades as you cling onto its neck, putting your knife to crimson work. It tries to hurl you off, to crush you against trees, but your grip does not break. The bereskarn's strength fails first. It crashes to the earth and breathes its last. You claim its head and spines as trophies.
+3 Trophies, +Dignity, -5 Peril

Failure: More blood shed
You close on the wounded beast. Employing your knife means getting in range of its razored spines, and you are gouged and limping by the time you slide your blade into its heart. It struck a hard bargain, this bereskarn, but its head and spines are yours, now.
+3 Trophies, -15 Health, +10 Dignity
