Its lifeblood pumps onto your boots. Its jaws clash, but you grit your teeth, tighten your grip and keep them at bay. When they fall still you draw a knife and claim the head and spines as trophies. Your men have to prise you free from the corpse. To release your tension you cut the beast's head - and venom sacs - from its neck.

The bereskarn's strength fails first. It crashes to the earth and breathes its last. You claim its head and spines as trophies.

Failure: More blood shed You close on the wounded beast. Employing your knife means getting in range of its razored spines, and you are gouged and limping by the time you slide your blade into its heart. It struck a hard bargain, this bereskarn, but its head and spines are yours, now.
