Silly Annoyance Edit

Ok, this is completely my pet peeve, but I'm curious if anyone else was annoyed at that butchering of wyvern whenever someone spoke it? From my experience, it seems to stem from anyone who have ever had contact with the monster hunter series... for everyone I know who erroneously says "wih*vern" instead of the correct "whai*vern" has had a connection to those games. Was anyone else bothered? Or is it just me?

Correct pronunciation: /ˈwaɪvərn/ -- FaeQueenCory (talk) 14:52, October 15, 2011 (UTC)

I doubt it has much if anything to do with connections to whatever monster hunter series you're mentioning. "wih*vern" just seems a natural phonetic way to pronounce that spelling. I doubt most would bother looking up the pronunciation in a dictionary (I only looked it up because of your post). You should write to the Dragon Age producers. Maybe they'll even create a scene in the next Dragon Age where an NPC criticizes another NPC for pronouncing it wrongly -- hah, that would be funny. And you could claim some credit for sparking it.

What about orlesian pronuciation ? Here we say (phonetically) 'veevern'. As wyverns seem to live only in Orlais, not in Ferelden or Free marches and the orlesians are supposed to have a french accent it seems correct for guests to adopt the local phonetics. They are not supposed to translate, let alone teach locals how to speak. --Croquignol (talk) 04:16, July 7, 2012 (UTC)

Mythological Trivia: A Wyvern is, in trivia, a Dragon with only two legs and wings, rather than the conventional dragon which is quadruped and has wings. For the Dragon geeks, like myself, this means that the Wyvern, only having 4 limbs instead of 6, is the only dragon which can be classified as a reptile. Just something fun to read about on a stormy night. --Legionaire22 16:15, December 13, 2012 (UTC)

Snowy wyvern Edit

Could this, like Alpha Wyvern, be listed as a variation of wyvern? StillAlive (talk) 02:09, December 24, 2014 (UTC)

Wyvern Cellular Division?Edit

So I'm playing DA:I and I'm in the Hissing Wastes farming wyverns. I'm a melee rogue so I enter stealth, sneak up behind a wyvern, use poisoned weapons and then initiate combat with the deathblow skill. BOOM! Now I'm fighting one or two extra wyverns that just popped out of the original's body. Is this a bug, has anyone else encountered this, and if so should it be added to the page?
