I would like to know if Varel is mentioned in the epilogue. This article says he can survive the assault on Vigil's Keep, but it seems that Captain Garevel is promoted to the rank of seneschal... whci would make little sense if varel is still alive --Akanthar (talk) 23:18, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

I haven't seen him in none of the epilogues on three different wardens. I initially added that info but it has since been deleted. I found it odd since I do get an epilogie card for a character that I haven't even seen.--Alainn (talk) 13:48, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

I think it's bogus. There are no epilogue slides mentioning that he survived. I've beaten the game after saving Amaranthine (where it doesn't show him dying, like saving the Keep does) and Golems still imports the missive from his successor, Garevel. He should have been made a Warden

I realize he's not a Warden, but he speaks like he is one. Kinda dumb the way they wrote it I think, for a Non-Grey Warden to oversee The Joining like that. AbsolutGrndZer0 (talk) 11:14, January 18, 2011 (UTC)

DA2 mention

I have removed the info about him being mentioned in DA2 because that is at present pure speculation with absolutely no evidence in support. IMO it should stay this way until someone can procure some solid proof.

Varel - Amaranthine dialogue

"* If you take care of the conspiracy before Bann Esmerelle confronts you, a dialogue option about taking a crossbow bolt for you will still appear in a conversation with him should you chose to defend the Keep instead of Amaranthine."
