"One of the rifts for Rifts in the Mire is located in the vicinity so it is a good idea to take care of that first." Unless you wish to harvest Revenant hearts for a future Superb Cleansing Rune manufacture. In which case you may wish to run past and leave that rift for near the end.
"Head west out of the arena-like structure through a gap in the rocks then north." Try not to be put off by the water. I think wading through that is inevitable.
