Class

I wonder if we'll be able to chose all three classes for this Inquisitor. I know it might sound stupid, but from what i've read the Inquisitor (at least at some point) is answering to the Chantry. I play ONLY mages, so my question is: will we be able to make a mage Inquisitor? Does anyone know?--Divine Stas (talk) 16:06, June 25, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, you will, so don't worry.62.87.243.149 (talk) 18:59, June 25, 2013 (UTC)
A mage inquisitor... this should be fun)--Divine Stas (talk) 04:10, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

Questioning article

It's mage-templar war, both fractions abandoned the Chantry to slaughter each other. Chantry is left with few loyalists and the organization no longer supports any of the side as is written in DA:Asunder. Besides Mitch Dyer, the author of the refered article, clearly doesn't know context, he confused a prophet with her god, so he could also confuse templars with the chantry as is stated on Forum:Contradicting news . Besides this article is biased as hell used by so emotional words. I question credibility of that article, if the author confuses organisations and a god with a prophet. Journalists are supposed to be unbiased and emotional strong words contradict neutrality of journalism.78.8.155.48 (talk) 08:00, June 28, 2013 (UTC)

More than anything else, I'm just curious as to how the Inquisitor is connected to the events occurring in the world during the game. I mean, are they just some random person who rises to the occasion, or are they somehow connected to what's happening in a more personal way? I guess time will tell.

maybe the second ring is the inquisition symbol?

Why not called The Grand Inquisitor

Why don't the game creators just use Grand Inquisitor since the player character is the leader Red Komet (talk) 22:03, August 27, 2013 (UTC)
Maybe a trademark/copyright issue. Activision did Zork: Grand Inquisitor, so they may hold the trademark on "Grand Inquisitor". Gruedragon (talk) 16:28, September 6, 2013 (UTC)
Grand Inquisitor is not a trademark it can be used in most media like AdventureQuest Worlds and Jade Empire(Which is a Bioware Game) anyway a Grand Inquisitor is always the Inquisitor Leader RankFemto Von Godhand (talk) 05:21, September 18, 2014 (UTC)

Race and Last Name

Possible spoilers: I don't really know where on the page this would go, but the last names for the Inquisitor (as of Pax Prime) are as follows.

1. Human Warrior Trevelyan

2. Elven Mage Lavellan

3. Qunari Rogue Adaar

4. Dwarf Warrior Cadash

--628199 (talk) 22:51, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

Two questions. First, Gaider said that now that they had introduced playable races they were dropping the optional background feature, and that the Inquisitors background would differ by class and race ("what exists now is race/class choice"[1]), that being the case it seems probable that not every human will share a surname, not every mage etc, as with Origins - a human rogue was a Cousland while a human mage was an Amell. It is also possible that rogues and warriors won't share backgrounds. Second, are we sure that these are official surnames - not player created, obviously the latter seems very unlikely considering the precedent.
Anyway, I'm going to go ahead and change the race/class thing as mentioned, i'm fine with leaving the latter point as it seems very unlikely. Alexsau1991 25px-Goddammit.svg.png (talk page) 00:48, November 22, 2013 (UTC)
Seeing as the footage was from an alpha version of the game, a lot can change. They may have put the names there as place holders. I would prefer the surnames be deleted off the page for now. Henio0 (talk) 09:00, November 22, 2013 (UTC)
Good point. Alternatively we could note that these are the surnames in an alpha version of the game. Alexsau1991 25px-Goddammit.svg.png (talk page) 01:26, November 23, 2013 (UTC)
We can mention only things we know, not things that can be. We must put only facts not speculations.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 07:38, November 23, 2013 (UTC)
We're not talking about speculation, the names were not announced they were seen in an alpha build of the game. Alexsau1991 25px-Goddammit.svg.png (talk page) 23:04, November 23, 2013 (UTC)
I prefer more of a Qunari Warrior. (Queen Darkness Von Haven talk) 03:51, December 17, 2013 (UTC)

Cadash is where Shale's from, isn't it? And Trevelyan (aside from being a Cornish surname, and therefore awesome), was the surname of Sean Bean's character in Goldeneye. Eggy2504 (talk) 14:47, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

Yes, Cadash is Shale's former house name.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 15:06, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

Gaider has recently stated that the Dalish is the only elven protagonist background for the Inquisitor: "Believe I mentioned this before, but once again: if you're an elf, you're Dalish." Lobsel Vith (talk) 18:59, March 6, 2014 (UTC)

The Gallery

The gallery has gotten out of hand, we really don't need to display every single image of the Inquisitor that has been released thus far... Alexsau1991 25px-Goddammit.svg.png (talk page) 23:04, November 23, 2013 (UTC)

Agreed. There's only supposed to be about 15 per gallery anyway. Kelcat (talk) 01:09, November 24, 2013 (UTC)

Qunari Inquisitors are Tal-Vashoth

Just now I read on a forumon BioWare Social Network that all the Qunari PC are Tal-Vashoth according to David Gaider, though I'm sure that you all guessed that since the Qunari PC have actual names. However, Gaider states that Mary Kirby informed him "that the PC would technically just be Vashoth." --Matthew Paul (talk) 04:34, February 1, 2014 (UTC)

It is a good confirmation that the Inquisitor will not be a follower of the Qun, but nevertheless he or she may be Tal-Vashoth of second generation, born and raised outside of Qun completely. Henio0 (talk) 07:41, February 1, 2014 (UTC)

The capital Q

I think the qunari Inquisitor should be spelled with the lower case "Q". It is done this way by David Gaider in OXM (here) and by Sten in Origins (here). I think we should keep the capital "Q" for followers of the Qun. Thoughts?Henio0 (talk) 08:52, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

Elves

Does anyone know if they're going to fix whatever horrific mangling they did to the elves in 2? No more bat ears? I REALLY hope the programmers regained whatever mind they lost when they programmed the 'new look'. *shudder*

I've read that a Elven inquisitor will be Dalish and that the voice options will be British and American, but wouldn't a Dalish inquisitor have a Welsh / Irish accent? Welshman15 (talk) 19:26, April 25, 2014 (UTC)

In theory? Yes, but voice acting all the lines the Inquisitor has in the game is expensive, and perhaps takes up a good deal of space in the game files, I'm guess four was their limit. They probably didn't considered it worth it to bring in another just for elves. Ravenfirelight (talk) 20:47, April 25, 2014 (UTC)
The Sabrae clan didn't have Welsh and Irish accents in Origins, and with the newest revamp to the elves in Inquisition, it's possible this has changed as well. Given how we were limited to one clan in Dragon Age II, it's also possible other clans would have different accents. It remains to be seen how the accents for elves (aside from the elven Inquisitor) will be approached in Inquisition. Lobsel Vith (talk) 08:28, April 26, 2014 (UTC)

Change Headquote

Would anyone have any issues with officially changing the headquote for the Inquisitor? We have one from Morrigan right now, but we do have a pretty good quote from the welcome trailer on the new website:

“The world is tearing itself apart, but they say I can stop this. Unless we act, it will swallow the world.”

At least, IMO I think it would be best to always use a quote from the character in question when it becomes feasible. Any suggestions? Thanks!--WardenWade (talk) 11:23, April 23, 2014 (UTC)

NopeWe don't know for sure if this is the Inquisitor speaking. Even if so, it may not end up in the game, or be just one of the possible lines, i.e. aggressive one, which set a canon choice for the wiki. Additionally, we never had a quote of their own for Hawke and Warden. Henio0 (talk) 14:26, April 23, 2014 (UTC)
That makes sense :) We can wait until we have something certain for them, if it does seem like changing it is warranted in the future.----WardenWade (talk) 10:56, April 24, 2014 (UTC)

Sten and female Qunari Inquisitor

Would be amusing if Sten re-appeared in DA3 and another conversation similar to the one in Origins where he asks a female pc if they're a woman happened, it would be more interesting if the pc was a female qunari if it happens in DA3. BlackDragon666 (talk) 11:51, May 15, 2014 (UTC)

Does anybody know if we will be able to customize our inquisitor as we did in origins and dragon age 2

The Gallery, again

I brought this up a while ago, and I'm sure this is the case in other articles, we really don't need every single image of the Inquisitor that BioWare releases. As with Hawke, and the Warden I suggest we only have images that are of some significance. Concept art, and promotional material, rather than stills of the different Inquisitors seen in various demos.
So, I'm gonna go ahead and remove them. If for nothing else, it should encourage discussion if there are any objections. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 00:34, August 18, 2014 (UTC)

Hearald of Andraste?

Is this speculation that the inquisitor is given their powers by Andraste and thus labeled her herald if it confirmed can we get a source? If it's speculation does it really belong here?--WardenMaster (talk) 19:04, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

Characters refer to the Inquisitor by this title. Whether the Inquisitor actually is herald of Andraste is uknown. User signature henioo henioo (da talk page) 19:28, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

That's what I thought but on the page it says witnesses to the event say that a woman gave the inquisitor their powers and is believed to be Andraste and thus labeled them her herald but where is this shown in a trailer or something else —Preceding unsigned comment added by WardenMaster (talkcontribs)

Moving Origins.

The Warden's origins have their own page, maybe it's best that the Inquisitor's is separate as well.--Observer Supreme 00:00, November 17, 2014 (UTC)

Anyone think we should do this?--Observer Supreme 02:37, November 17, 2014 (UTC)
I think it'd be good to wait with it just a little more. A day or two and it's officially released in NA, then in the rest of the world with a few days of difference. Just waiting a little bit could give us more information on the origins themselves and we could move the info here to that article, plus adding to it. --Margerard is a Dragon Age Wiki Editor 04:27, November 17, 2014 (UTC)
alright, fair enough.--Observer Supreme 04:31, November 17, 2014 (UTC)
Its worth noting that the primary reason the Warden's origins have separate articles are because they are playable. Even if they have whole quests for each corresponding Inquisitor's origins, I can't think of any reason why we couldn't cover those with standard quest guide articles.

-HD3 Sig 04:46, November 17, 2014 (UTC)

There is a page for origins too, not just the playable quests of each origins. Not just descriptions but images and starting items and skills are there too. Once we have our hands on the game, I'm sure we can look up the rest along the descriptions. Eventually we may end up adding trivia too, just like on that page. --Margerard is a Dragon Age Wiki Editor 05:04, November 17, 2014 (UTC)

Dialogue...

I've just started DAI, and already I'm taking issue with the dialogue.

For instance, when in prison, when my first response is to stoically stay silent (as I did with my female qunari mage), I don't expect my following dialogue option "I don't know" to translate into practically bursting into tears with fear. I don't care if my qunari wasn't raised in the qun; the qunari mage in DA2 set the tone for qunari mages, resignation to their fate.

Following that, and several other inconsistent matches; I take issue with Cassandra's show of disgust. Her disgust isn't the issue, it's her blatantly forced disgust, which is disgusting. And while in DA2, she was very self assured and in command; but in DAI, she comes across as a fish out of water (granted the world is literally falling apart; but DA2, and her own story, gave me the impression she comes together best in calamity).

I dislike having ranged characters running point, so I often control the shield bearer when when running around. This posed a problem I wasn't prepared for, and lost a dialogue option; Varric attempted banter with my mage, and the wheel was barely visible; when I noticed it, I couldn't activate it, then I clicked the R3 and Varric assumed I was being stoically silent, and made reference to the Kirkwall qunari being much the same. I think I'll try R3 a few more times; if this continues, then I may get to like it, in the "implied facepalm" kind of way; there were plenty of times in DA2 where I didn't like any of the dialogue option, and I may try it there to, just to see.

In conclusion, I'm as yet, rather disappointed in the voice acting. Shadizar666 (Ruck Rules) 21:04, November 21, 2014 (UTC)

Move?

So it seems 99% of the time the hero of DAI is in fact referred to as the Herald, not the Inquisitor. Whilst quite a radical move, I think it would be justified to rename the page as The Herald. What do we think? User signature henioo henioo (da talk page) 07:24, November 22, 2014 (UTC)

We already have a darkspawn Herald, and I think they're mostly called the Herald during act 1.--Observer Supreme 20:54, November 22, 2014 (UTC)
That may just be it, I am still in the early stages of the game, currently on my way to Redcliffe. If they call the PC as Inquisitor in the later stages of the game, then that is fine and I will withdraw my proposal. User signature henioo henioo (da talk page) 21:06, November 22, 2014 (UTC)
Okay.--Observer Supreme 21:17, November 22, 2014 (UTC)
Having got further to the end of the game (well, at least further to the middle of the second act), I can confirm people do start addressing you as "Inquisitor", with regularity. – Ser Lavaeolus (talk) (contribs) 15:03, November 24, 2014 (UTC)
I think its fine the way it is. The main protagonist is promoted as Inquisitor on the official bioware website. Herald to Andraste seems like an alias more than an official name.(Sports72Xtrm (talk) 16:43, November 24, 2014 (UTC))

Voice changes after meeting a same gendered Hawke

While meeting a female Hawke, my female Qunari Inquisitor voice changed from the british one to the american one (I also noticed the Qunari's voice selection is opposite to the Elven one). But the error does not happen unless you use the custom Hawke option, the default Hawke works just fine 92.23.200.193 (talk) 14:06, November 22, 2014 (UTC)
