Is saemus gay?[]
He was definately very upset when ashaad had been killed by the mercenaries.
That was not what i saw but to each his own. I personally felt that Saemus has spent so much time being judged as the viscount's son he began to doubt if hee was really that special beyond that. Assad judged him by his merits and considered him worthy of his time, so his approval meant a great deal to him.--Ironreaper (talk) 23:33, March 28, 2011 (UTC)--Ironreaper (talk) 23:33, March 28, 2011 (UTC)
- I would absolutely say yes. Given Ginnis' comments during The Unbidden Rescue:
"Is that one of their words? See, that's why you need to be dragged home. You're playing too nice with those things. I'll wager you've gone even further than that, haven't you, brat?"
- ...which meets no protest or denial from Saemus, and skips directly to Hawke's response, as well as his general tone when referring to the situation:
"I was with Ashaad!"
"We were both seeking something. That was enough."
"There was much of Ashaad that I didn't understand, but it was so very worth trying."
- It seems to me that there was more going on there than just friendship, if perhaps one-sided on Saemus' end. All that dialogue, coupled with his remarks about how disappointed his father is with him, implies quite a different scenario than what can be taken at face value.

I dont think there's any proof of him being gay. I never say any signs of homosexuality. Of course as said before, to each his own. Though I believe they were just friends. He had high respect for the Qun as we know and wanted to be one himself. So when he watched his good friend get killed, what other respond are you gonna expect? Think of it this was, you watch one of your good friends get killed, you're going to VERY upset. Plus I wouldnt take anything from Ginnis very seriously since she hated his guts in the first place. Of course she's probably going to belittle him as much as possible. AFreeMarcher (talk) 02:27, October 9, 2011 (UTC)
And there also is the fact Qunari do not assicate love with sex. Sex is simply for reproduction to them. They uphold this fiercly. So sexuality doesnt really matter in this case and if that is what Seamus is after then he is looking i the wrong place. Also being gay is not as much a taboo in the DA world as in ours. Its considered odd, but tehy dont mind. Being a mage is their version of gay. I am curious what the Qunari's views are on homosexuality, since it would have not practical purpose which they define sex by.--Ironreaper (talk) 03:52, November 1, 2011 (UTC)
Pronounced SHAY-mus?[]
Pretty self explanatory. Is his name pronounced SAY-mus, SHAY-mus, SEH-mus or SAEH-mus? Tokoyami no Nietzsche (talk) 09:14, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
- Pronounced like SHAY-mus based off of in-game dialogue.

Should Saemus be added to Children and Teenagers category?[]
Saemus died at 18, which is technically considered adulthood, but he's also still a teenager in the literal sense. Otherwise, half his screentime is him at 15 years old in Act 1. Would he belong in the Children and Teenagers category? Thebluewraith(talk) 11:53, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
- This kind of grey area is pretty much why there's a proposal to delete the category. For another example see Valorin, who is sixteen, almost seventeen, but has his vallaslin and would therefore be considered an adult by Dalish standards. "Adulthood" is kind of a nebulous concept that varies a lot depending on culture, which is why I think it's counterproductive to try to categorize it rigidly. Age[]
I'm not proposing any changes, but it might be worth noting that there's conflicting info about his age just within his section in WoT2. His mother becomes pregnant with him in 9:16 and he's 5 when his father becomes viscount in 9:21, so that's all good, but then it says he's 16 when he starts exploring the Wounded Coast, then meets Ashaad there in 9:31; the year he should turn 15. Worth noting in a trivia or notes section, or nah? Vegemaybe (talk) 03:53, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- For a difference of a single year like that I would personally say it's splitting hairs, since it could be a matter of him being "5 soon to be 6" in year 9:21, and then so 9:31 is "was 15 but recently turned 16" depending on if the event happened before or after his birthday. But that's just my opinion. NotYourParadigm (talk) 19:38, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
