I think these quest might only be possible after a certain point in the plot. I looked all over the market place but never found the guard contact. I suspect the guard you need to talk to is the one beyond the portcullis that's inaccessible for some of the game. Tetracycloide 22:06, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

glitch? Edit

I had the same problem finding the guard contact as Tetracycloide, but I encountered D's people and killed them and got the locations of D's hideout. After I killed D, I went back to Denerim, and the guard contact was there (but in my journal, the quest objective said "return to the Gnawed Noble tavern to collect your reward). I gave him the wink and nod, and he told me to watch my back, and the quest objective changed to "You've ensured D will be arrested, but be on your guard around Denerim". But I still got the quest completed when I went to the Bartender in the tavern, so it's cool I guess.

I had this problem as well but the Guard Contact was there after I zoned into the Gnawed Noble Tavern and came out again. Mecorx 22:40, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

I'd "sorted out" 'D' long before I spoke to Gorim and learnt of the "winks". Don't know if it is bugged or just very open in the order one completes, but now I've spoken to the guard I'm no longer getting encounters at the place where I've already "dealt with" the lieutenant.

Got it!Edit

Aha! I've figured it out. In order to trigger the guard contact to appear after "winking" at everyone... you need to leave the market. I ducked into Wade's Emporium briefly, let Herren abuse me somewhat, then went back out. The quest marker appeared, and the guard (who was NOT there previously) spawned by the entrance gate to Denerim. Dragonchilde (talk) 03:25, February 2, 2011 (UTC)
