ehh??[]

really, he is still just a powerful enemy, no data on the battle? 68.103.155.210 (talk) 06:35, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

Name[]

I don't know if it's just the German version of the game, but for me, the name of the boss is Namrevlis, not Malvernis. Same letters, but different order... But since almost all other names are not localized, I don't understand why the name was changed. Does anyone know about this? --78.54.14.248 (talk) 22:54, January 2, 2013 (UTC)

A little googling reveals that he's called Namrevlis in the French and Polish edition, too. Perhaps only in English Malvernis? But I didn't find any reasons. Found some hint that his name being an anagram to Silverman would be intentional. -- CompleCCity (talk) 22:04, September 18, 2014 (UTC)

Potential Bug?[]

PC 1.04. If you bring Varric along (and I would imagine this would work for any character with a long range attack), if you go to either platform with the ghost archers on them before the fight starts, and kill off the ones close to the party, you will be able to drop out of combat to save/heal up. Afterwards, just inch closer to other ghost archers to pick them off one at a time using your ranged character until only a few remain, then just bum rush down and kill the last few archers while setting your party up positionally to fight Malvernis on the low ground. Used this strategy to beat the super annoying first phase of the fight.

As well, in phase 2, when Malvernis eventually teleports to one of the high ground platforms, if you follow him up there, he will spawn rage demons and pelt the entire area with fireballs when you begin the dragon phase. If you instead just whittle him down from the low ground using ranged characters, he will not spawn the rage demons, nor will he pelt the area with fireballs either. I'm assuming this bit is working as intended, but figured I'd note it.

This does, however, seem like a viable alternative strategy to me if anyone is struggling to kill him.207.210.22.33 (talk) 06:17, January 11, 2013 (UTC)

Coming back later.[]

Is it possible to fight this guy after doing the rest on the DLC? I've just got to the first seal, so I can't back track just yet.--End Times (talk) 01:09, October 14, 2014 (UTC)

No, once you exit the Carta Hideout and go into the tower, you can no longer visit the Vimmark Chasm. --Death by Cheese (talk) 01:13, October 14, 2014 (UTC)

No AOE Firestorm?[]

Just killed him, PC 1.04. Never saw the AOE fireball. Made his dragon phase a joke. Perhaps this is related to what the above editor mentions about following him up the platform? I also didn't do that. Eternalspirit (talk) 05:41, June 6, 2015 (UTC)
