The Prima guide suggests that Varric's approval of the Inquisitor's choice to ally with or conscript the mages depends upon whether Hawke supported the mages or the templars in DAII as follows:
-If Hawke supported the mages: Varric approves of taking the mages as allies but correspondingly disapproves of taking them as conscripts.
-If Hawke supported the templars: Varric approves of taking the mages as conscripts but correspondingly disapproves of taking them as allies.
Dorian angry for abandonment Edit
Has anyone tried doing this quest up to the point where you have to visit the war table, only to instead go with the templars? Does anything unique happen, does Dorian have any unique dialogue where he wonders why the inquisitor didn't come to the castle and help?--Dracowrath (talk) 12:18, January 31, 2015 (UTC)
- I've done this in my current playthrough. The first dialogue with Dorian at Skyhold addresses it. Just a couple of lines where he says "it would have been nice of you to stop Alexius but that didn't happen ... I'd like to stay." He's entitled to a little anger I think but that's it unless there's more later. The conversations at this point seem to get back in line with those you'd get if you completed this quest. -- Ness csr (talk) 05:01, February 2, 2015 (UTC)
Mage alliance... Edit
I was looking to appease Bull whenever I can, but I have yet to conscript the mages, and this time wasn't any different. However, I noticed that Bull disapproves, as opposed to the page text that says he greatly disapproves. Shadizar666 (Ruck Rules) 01:18, November 6, 2016 (UTC)
Underworld Knowledge dialogue about 'additional' lyrium Edit
Does actually do anything?
