Non-diminishing approval bug Edit
Mods that include a recompiled version of the rules_core script can cause the bug where gifts have non-diminishing returns and always trigger an appropriate gift response. The EVENT_TYPE_GIFT_ITEM in rules_core calls on Approval_GetFollowerIndex() from approval_h. In the stock data that comes with the toolset, Approval_GetFollowerIndex() is hard-coded to only recognize Origin characters, thus it returns -1 value (possible that it will return the correct value for Oghren). Thus, when rules_core is recompiled by the toolset, it can no longer recognize the new Awakenings characters and thus will always return a +5 approval.
For modders, and those with access to build-to-builder source files, one way to fix this is to incorporate Anakin5's Event Manager into your mods to only override the specific events that you want, and not affect EVENT_TYPE_GIFT_ITEM.
For general players, the only recourse I can think of is to test for offending mods by disabling them all and re-enabling them one by one, then temporarily disabling the conflicting mod whenever you want to give gifts.
Diminishing Approval with Oghren Edit
Possible PC bug/issue; First time I played through Awakening I struggled to get anywhere with increasing Oghren's approval. Second time I noticed that the first gift I gave him only netted +6 approval. I assume this is an issue with importing a DA:Origins character where the game resets Oghren's approval to 0 but doesn't forget the number of gifts he's already been given. Has anyone else experienced this, or avoided the issue with a new character? --Duke
Howe Bow Bug Edit
There is a bug on this page... Howe Bow link should go to Howe Bow (gift), but instead it goes straight to Howe Bow despite the editing under Nathaniel's Gifts. I'm brand new to editing wikis, so maybe someone else knows how to fix it. Thanks, Jana
Merge candidate Edit
In accordance with other item topics such as Weapons (Origins), Longswords (Origins), Accessories (Origins), etc I think this page should be merged with Gifts (Origins). 07:35, December 26, 2013 (UTC)
The resulting page will become too long. There aren't that many longswords or amulets in Awakening, so in those cases creating separate pages is not needed. – mostlyautumn • talk • contribs • 07:59, December 26, 2013 (UTC)
