This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the Dispel Magic (Dragon Age II) article. |

What sort of things will this actually dispel? Most enemies don't use much magic. Does it kill blood magic AoE and the quanari mage lightning-explosions? How about boss' buff things?
- The page definitely could use more information. Here are a few things I can confirm from personal use:
- 1) It removes the barrier-like spell some human mages cast (the one that blocks all damage), such as the mage at the end of the Birthright quest. However, it's rather pointless because they can't retaliate while their bubble is activated anyway.
- 2) If used on arcane horrors, desire demons, and various quanari lieutenants as they begin to cast their spells, it'll disable their spell and prevent them from recasting it for a few seconds. I hypothesize this is because it puts their spell on cooldown as if it were actually used.
- Since the developers have stated that enemies have unique abilities (i.e. they don't have anything the player can access), it's difficult to tell exactly what is and isn't affected by it. Overall, I think dispel is a bad ability, it's simply too situational. When you want to dispel single targets in mid-cast, it's better to just hit them with horror or petrify. Both of these abilities completely take them out of the fight (where in the case of dispel they can still attack), and for much longer periods of time. Dispel might be better if I knew more uses for it. I have no idea about blood or quanari mage magic.
