For the rare maul in Dragon Age: Inquisition, see Sundering (Inquisition).

Sundering is a unique maul in Dragon Age II.

Acquisition[edit | edit source]

Available at Nexus Golem's Wares in the Abandoned Thaig at Sundermount for 38Gold 40Silver 0Bronze during Act 3.

Background[edit | edit source]

In the legends of the Ash Warriors, nothing is more hallowed than Sundering, the battle mace of Luthias Dwarfson.

Legend says the mace was not crafted by hand, but instead hatched from an egg high in the mountains and then carried by birds to Luthias as a wedding gift from the Lady of the Skies.

When Luthias dies, dwarves arrived to carry him to Orzammar to be buried as one of their own with the Stone. Sundering was to lie at his side, but the mace could not be found. Stories say the birds reclaimed it and will deliver it to another hero in time.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Activated talents deal electricity damage with this weapon equipped.
  • Prior to patch 1.03, Sundering's stats included +10% physical damage instead of +16% electricity damage. The original bonus was useless since the weapon deals electricity damage.
  • The +16% electricity damage effectively boosts its own basic hit damage beyond what is stated.
  • Most demons who are immune to spirit damage on Nightmare difficulty are vulnerable to electricity, suffering double damage. Enemies invulnerable to nature, namely undead and Raiders, also share this weakness. With only three enemy types immune to electricity, this maul can be considered the most reliable two-handed weapon in the game, if not the most damaging across the board.
