The most common variety of Dwarven War Golem, the Stone Golems were once a common sight. However since the loss of Paragon Caridin and the Anvil of the Void required for Golem manufacture, even though they are the basest form of Golem, they are more valued than any quantity of gold.
Unlike their steel counterparts which are forged from finely tempered steel, Stone Golems are made from more readily available slabs of rock. They cannot use the lightning attack that steel golems have.
Despite their rarity a significant quantity of Stone Golems can still be found throughout Thedas, most commonly in abandoned Thaigs. They can also be found, thanks to their rarity and value, in the hands of collectors on the surface such as Wilhelm of Redcliffe and Xenon the Antiquarian.
