Starfang is a unique (tierless) weapon obtained by bringing the Meteor Metal Ore to Mikhael Dryden in Soldier's Peak, after the completion of the Warden's Keep questline. After receiving the meteorite fragment, a special line of dialogue will open up with the weaponsmith, allowing you to create a new weapon from the fragment. You are given the choice of making either a one-handed Longword or a two-handed Greatsword. Choose carefully, as there is only enough ore for one weapon!

The Meteor Metal Ore is obtained through a not-so-random encounter (The Crater event triggers consistently if you travel between Honnleath and Flemeth's Hut enough times), during which the character and his/her party come across two NPC's standing near a crater. After a short dialogue, the character can approach the center of the crater and interact with the meteor, therefore obtaining the Meteor Metal Ore.

An exception to the damage value seems to be present and consistent across Xbox 360 versions of the game, where the displayed in-game value is 17 and not the indicated 18.7
