Something's Coming is a side quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Wardens Antoine and Evka finally have some news on why the blight might be changing to share with Rook and the team.

Acquisition[]

This quest is acquired by reading a note, A Letter from the Hossberg Wetlands, which appears in the Lighthouse library after completing the region side quest Something Wicked and the main quest The Words of the Wolf.

Walkthrough[]

The blight continues its spread through the Hossberg Wetlands. Antoine and Evka have a theory about the source—but can it be destroyed?

Learn more about the blight[]

Speak to Antoine and Evka who have learned more about the changing blight and have traced it to a specific source in the wetlands. They have developed a sort of alchemical fire to burn it all down.

Destroy the blight eruption[]

Go to the location in the wetlands where a number of blight bulbs are crowding around the far end of the Inner Courtyard. Some are up top next to a couple of ballista that can be used to destroy the rest. This opens up a path through to the actual eruption.

More darkspawn and blight bulbs surround a massive growth on the far wall. If Rook is a Grey Warden ominous whispers can be heard during the ensuing fight and they will react with alarming voice lines. Davrin will react similarly and other companions will ask if the two are alright.

After they are eradicated the stairs closer to the huge eruption becomes available so that the team can set up the explosives. Move to a safe distance to send the eruption off in a blaze of glory.

Talk to Evka and Antoine[]

Meet up with the Wardens again in an area close to Grey Hold marked on the map. With the blight reduced a small clearing has opened up. They are admiring the flowers there and discussing what the future might hold for the Warden order after the final archdemon is defeated.

Results[]

Something evil lingers in the Hossberg Wetlands. Antoine and Evka are researching the strange changes in the blight and may be onto something…

Something evil lingers in the Hossberg Wetlands. A construct of the blight itself, the eruption controls the rest and its roots grow deeper. If the eruption is left unchecked, Lavendel and the Hossberg Wetlands will become a dead, blight-choked wasteland.

The blight eruption was destroyed, and its hold on the Hossberg Wetlands is over. While it will take some time for the rest of the blight to recede, there's hope life will return once more. Though uncertain about what the future holds, Evka and Antoine are optimistic for what comes next.

  • Completing this quest unlocks three newly accessible pocket areas across the Hossberg Wetlands that have Brona's Bloom and flowering trees. These new locations are required to access the last remaining map-marked chests in this region. For example, the newly part of the Sheltered Glades includes a chest with Frontline Plated Mail (heavy armor). The other two unlocked areas are in Solitude's Edge and the Old Crossroads.
  • The three new pocket locations with flowers each include a pickable flower. Collecting all three of them is is required for the "In Peace" achievement.
  • Lavendel will now be decorated with flowers, but not with actual lavender from which the town gets its name.
