Someone to Lose is a side quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

A Dalish teenager named Valorin ran off after being passed over for the Keeper's apprenticeship. He has yet to return and his sister Emalien fears the worst.

Acquisition

Speak with Emalien at the Dalish Encampment on the Exalted Plains.

Walkthrough

Note: Valorin's Journal

• Find Valorin's corpse in a destroyed house just north of the quest marker and gather his belongings.
• Return Valorin's effects to Emalien at the Dalish Encampment. How the news is delivered to Emalien will affect companion approval and the amount of Dalish Favor granted for the side quest By the Grace of the Dalish (see Approval below).

Completing the quest yields:

• 128 XP
• Influence 80

Approval

When Emalien asks what was learned, the Inquisitor can respond in the following ways:

He was brave.

• Dalish Favor +2
• Dorian / Solas Slightly Disapproves
• Blackwall Slightly Approves
• Cole Approves (whether or not he is in the party)

Teenagers are stupid.

• Dalish Favor +1
• Cassandra Slightly Disapproves
• Sera / Solas / Iron Bull / Blackwall Slightly Approves
• Cole Approves (whether or not he is in the party)

Blood Magic.

• Dalish Favor -2
• Cassandra / Dorian Slightly Approves
• Varric / Blackwall / Iron Bull Slightly Disapproves

Notes

Companions will have a variety of responses when selecting Blood Magic. as a response:

• Vivienne: By not letting good sense get in the way, I imagine.
• Iron Bull: Had to tell her like that, huh?

• If Varric and Cassandra are in the party:
• Varric: Did you really have to tell her? The boy's dead.
• Cassandra: It is the truth!
• Varric: And truth trumps kindness every time, doesn't it Seeker?
