Soldier is part of King Cailan's army which is fighting against the darkspawn horde in the eve of the Fifth Blight. He is a possible temporary companion to the Warden.
Involvement
As the Battle of Ostagar begins, the Tower of Ishal is overrun by darkspawn coming from the ground via tunnels. If the Warden is of Magi Origin he will join the Warden's party along with Tower Guard in order to assist them with reaching the top of the tower and lighting the beacon as part of the Tower of Ishal (quest). If the Warden is a warrior or rogue however, Circle Mage will join the party instead of Soldier.
Once this is done, darkspawn soon overrun their position, however Flemeth in a giant bird form saves the Warden and Alistair. Since Soldier wasn't saved by Flemeth it can be presumed that he was overrun and killed by the darkspawn. However considering that he may not join the Warden's party, his overall fate remains unknown.
