“Titles outside the royal family are not recognized at court, but they remain part of ancient estates.”

Comtesse Solange Montbelliard, also known as the Silver Lady of Churneau, is an Orlesian noblewoman and a member of the Council of Heralds.

Background[]

Vivienne once helped Comtesse Solange when she attracted unwanted attention from a Nevarran ambassador, writing on behalf of the Comtesse that she "only likes men with self-respect."[1] Leliana calls her "the Silver Lady of Churneau" and suggests she could be a worthy ally.[2]

Dragon Age: Inquisition.

As a member of the Council of Heralds, Comtesse Solange is attending the peace talks between Celene Valmont I, Briala and Gaspard de Chalons to end the War of the Lions. She can be found in the Lower Garden, which can be accessed by using three halla statues, with her fellow council members, Lothaire Doucy and Cyril de Montfort. If Varric Tethras is brought along to the Winter Palace, Solange and Lothaire will comment on his writing.

At the entrance of the Winter Palace, the Inquisitor can encounter a noblewoman distraught over the loss of her ring, which she says was a gift from Comtesse Montbelliard. They can choose to return the ring to her or keep it for themselves.

The Inquisitor can discuss the purpose of the Council of Heralds with Solange. She explains that noble titles are not officially recognized by the court —aside from those used by the royal family. However, the historical titles are still significant in Orlesian society, serving as a reminder of the ancient lineages. Solange says that if there is no clear inheritor to an estate, then it's the Council's duty to decide who should receive it. This conversation unlocks the codex Codex entry: Council of Heralds. The Inquisitor can ask Solange if she has noticed anything strange; she will mention that the royal wing of the palace is sealed and nobody knows why.

After the peace talks, Solange can use her position on the Council to help the Inquisition claim the disputed region of the Ylenn Basin, including all its revenues and oaths, over Comte Poisson.
