The Shrine of Dumat is an ancient Tevinter religious site, dedicated to the worship of the Old God, Dumat.
Background[]
The Shrine of Dumat becomes accessible after the completion of the war table operation Investigate the Shrine of Dumat which opens up during Leliana's companion quest Under Her Skin. The site can also be accessed after completing the operation Track Down Samson as part of Cullen's, companion quest Before the Dawn.
Involvement[]
The forces of Corypheus seize the Shrine of Dumat to serve as a major stronghold in their war to exalt their new god.
If the Inquisition recruits the mages:
Samson uses the Shrine of Dumat as his personal fortress and sets up his friend, Maddox the Tranquil, to do research in ways to improve and maintain Samson's unique red lyrium armor. Eventually the Inquisition discovers the location of the Shrine and launches an assualt. Samson flees while Maddox and several Red Templars remain behind to delay the Inquisition and destroy any information that could be used against them.
If the Inquisition recruits the Templars:
Calpernia, leader of the Venatori, desires to train at the Shrine; however, Corypheus states only Dumat's faithful are allowed to enter the site. The Inquisition learns of the Shrine using an altered memory crystal planted in Calpernia's camp and figures out that Corypheus is hiding something from her. The Inquisitor and company fight past the demons guarding the Shrine and find at its center Magister Erasthenes, Calpernia's former master, being held by a binding ritual of Corypheus. Erasthenes reveals that Corypheus plans on using a more powerful version of the ritual to bind Calpernia, making her "The Vessel" in what's to come. Afterwards, the Inquisitor can either end his suffering or leave him for Leliana's agents to question.
