The Shield of the Knight Herself is a unique metal shield in Dragon Age II. It is acquired through the gift and the quest of the same name.

Acquisition

Depending on the conversation with Aveline during the quest, you get either this shield or the restricted version, which has different stats and is restricted to Aveline. You'll receive this version if you pick the dialogue choices "Then I'll take it back." or "I don't care, just use it."

Background

A shield of impressive weight, to the point of being unwieldy if held by a weak hand. The crest is Dalish and old Orlesian, and the direct and deliberate styling can be a reference to only one person: the legendary Ser Aveline, the first woman to gain Orlesian knighthood. Ser Aveline's career was short—it's simply impossible for her to have held all the equipment that has been attributed to her over the years. But this shield is still of exceptional quality, and Aveline may find it's attribution to her namesake of interest.

Notes

The shield is quite similar in appearance to the shields that many of the Dalish have equipped.
