Shards in the Hinterlands is a shard collection in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Search for any shards scattered around the Hinterlands.
Acquisition[]
Obtained by interacting with any of the five oculara in the region.
Walkthrough[]
Interact with all oculara, and collect the 22 shards revealed. The oculara are found in the following locations:
- South of Calenhad's Foothold. (4 shards)
- Slightly northwest of the Upper Lake Inquisition Camp, overlooking King's Road. (4 shards)
- At Redcliffe Farms, southeast of Master Dennet's home. (5 shards)
- At the front of Grand Forest Villa, located on the far southwest side of the map. (5 shards)
- In Lady Shayna's Valley, north of the Dusklight Inquisition Camp. (4 shards)

Collecting shards enables the Inquisitor to complete the following six side quests in the Forbidden Oasis:
The Temple of Pride (Requires 6 shards)- Shard Collector
The Cold Endured (Requires 6 + 12 + 18 = 36 shards)- The Fire Captured (Requires 6 + 12 + 18 = 36 shards)
- The Spirit Calmed (Requires 6 + 12 + 18 = 36 shards)
- A Prideful Place
With the installation of the Jaws of Hakkon DLC an additional side quest can be completed:
- The Mystery of Winter (Requires 12 shards)
