Upon entering the Shadowy Crypt, proceed down the hall until a room with two ways to go. There are several Undead in groups through out this area.

After the fight, proceed to the left passage, the other passage is pointless until after the battle at the end of the left passage has been completed.

At the end of the passage there is a cutscene and you find out that the A Maiden in Distress is really a Hunger Demon that lured you there. With a decently well setup group it is possible to take out the Hunger Demon before the Undead she calls as reinforcements do any real damage, and then it is easy enough to finish them off. With high enough Coercion the hunger demon can be intimidated into not fighting at all. This room also has two essences, one is hidden in a coffin. To continue, go back and take the other path that wasn't taken before, some more Undead will attack you (some re-enforcements are hiding in closed coffins) and continue to the alternate way back to Blackmarsh Undying Village.
