“Giant rats? It's like the start of every bad adventure tale my grandfather used to tell.”

Ser Gilmore is a knight of Highever in the service of the Cousland family stationed at Castle Cousland and a temporary companion in the Human Noble origin.

Involvement

This section contains spoilers for:
Dragon Age: Origins.

The Human Noble first sees him when looking for Fergus Cousland (though he is mentioned earlier by Teyrn Bryce Cousland, when he says that Ser Gilmore is a possible recruit for Duncan). Gilmore warns the Human Noble that Dog has once again been causing mayhem in the pantry. After they find the hound, Gilmore assists in fending off a pack of giant rats, who were the real reason behind the ruckus. Afterwards, he retruns to his own duties.

When Arl Rendon Howe's men attack the castle, Gilmore attempts to fight off the invaders. If he manages to survive the intial attack, Gilmore and his wounded men will hold the gate so that the Human Noble, their Dog and Teyrna Eleanor Cousland can escape. It is unknown what happens to him, though he most likely dies.

Gilmore and Mallol

Possibly Ser Gilmore's corpse, as seen in Fort Drakon

If the Warden either chooses to surrender or is defeated at Arl of Denerim's Estate during Rescue the Queen, the cut scene of the insides of the prison shows dead torture victims, and one of them bears a striking resemblance to Ser Gilmore, though the corpse can't be interacted with. Examination in the toolset shows this corpse does use Ser Gilmore's headmorph, but the resource is labelled "generic_prisoner_1" and the name ascribed inside the file is "prisoner".

Quotes

  • "Can you imagine, me, a Grey Warden?"
