Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker.

He is one of Seeker Byron's confidants. He agrees to meet with Byron to collect Avexis and return her to the Circle of Magi. However, when he arrives, he finds Byron dead and is taken prisoner alongside Cassandra. After their escape, Galyan brought Cassandra to a Circle safehouse, only to find its occupants massacred. A survivor explains that they were attacked by blood mages right after they returned from Lazarro, their paranoid elf informant. Upon arriving at Lazarro's hut, the elf attacks them but is subdued. Under interrogation, Lazarro confesses to having betrayed them to the blood mages, who plan to attack the annual ten-year gathering in Val Royeaux. Soon after, they are attacked by ogres and golems controlled by blood mages. They escape using a vial Lazarro was planning to use on them, creating a flash bomb effect. Cassandra is wounded from the skirmish and can hardly walk, but not long after their escape they are found by the templars led by Knight-Commander Martel. At the edge of a cliff and with seemingly no escape, Cassandra throws her and the mage off the cliff, falling into the river below.

Eventually washing up on shore, Galyan helps Cassandra into a cave where they get shelter and he treats her wound. Slowly, Galyan wins her trust, after he expresses his deep regrets when she tells him about how blood mages killed her brother, resulting in her hatred of mages, regardless of whether they were in the Circle or not.

The next morning, Galyan camouflages them in the cave as the templars investigate. Martel then ordered his men away as he pulled out an elven communication stone. Cassandra got the drop on him and they discover that Martel was allied with Frenic, the leader of the blood mages. Though they take the stone, Cassandra is too weak to put up a fight, forcing Galyan to collapse the cave. He then restrained Cassandra, reminding her that exposing the conspiracy is more important than her revenge.

Arriving just outside the Seeker fortress, Galyan sends a message to the First Enchanter using a dove just before he and Cassandra find the High Seeker Aldren. Explaining their side of the story and showing the stone as proof, the High Seeker promised to bring the matter to the Divine. But no sooner does Aldren exit his office is he murdered by Martel, and Galyan and Cassandra are blamed.

Martel later pays them a visit in the dungeons, revealing his plan. Frenic would use Avexis to command high dragons to attack the Chantry. Galyan voiced his suspicions that someone among the Grand Clerics was in league with him, for the survivor of the attack would be elevated to Divine if all others in line for succession were wiped out. As Cassandra demanded to know the identity of Martel's co-conspirator, the knight-commander refused to answer.

Just as they are about to be executed, Circle mages Galyan contacted attack the Templars and free them. Alte reveals that they had been secretly trailing Martel and had discovered clandestine meetings with Grand Cleric Callista. Cassandra dueled Martel and managed to sever his sword arm. The Circle mages attempted to bind him so he would face justice but he broke free and attempted another attack, forcing Cassandra to decapitate him.

Afterwards, Cassandra and Galyan race to stop Frenic's attack. While Cassandra slayed the dragons and rescued the Divine, Galyan saved Avexis from Frenic. Frenic attacked him with a blood magic spell but the Circle mages arrive and put up a shield that protected him. As Frenic's plan started to crumble, Callista started limping towards him, only to be impaled on his staff. Frenic revealed that he merely used Callista so he could destroy the Chantry and allow mages to rule once more. He attempted to garner sympathy from Galyan, who refused the thought that they are the same. Frenic then transformed into a massive pride demon, impervious to the Circle mages' attacks. Galyan awakens Avexis to have her summon a dragon to help defeat Frenic. Cassandra then ended the abomination by striking him in the head.

Galyan is promoted to the rank of Enchanter, calling Cassandra as one of the bravest and most beautiful women he has ever met. Cassandra gave him a kiss on the cheek before they are honored together by the Divine.

Trivia

  • Galyan serves the Circle of Magi in Orlais, but his accent suggests that he is not natively Orlesian.
