Reaver is a warrior specialization in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Description
From "A Path of Warning and Harsh Promises." Breaker Thram's words make one passage stand out:
The blood of the dragon is treated in a way that speaks of dark intent, though motive is left to the temperament of the individual reaver. All of us can be tempted to harsh conduct. It is simply the fate of the reaver that theirs is the power to be brutal above most others. Their destruction is first inward, a commitment and test that spares them the instant distrust of the blood mage - to whom temptation comes with ease and the will of a demon in constant threat.
An account:
I cut the beast. It had seared me, but now its blood was the balm that would sooth. Later, I took the smallest amount and, adding it to the rite and ritual I had learned, drank without hesitation. It did not taste like blood as the uninitiated understand it, for they only know the taste of the wound, a flavor of defeat. This was the taste of blood coursing within, of life, of the primal - a burning that is not swallowed so much as it inhabits. To infuse with the blood and life of such a beast is to be changed at the core. Some could see it and knew I was more than I had been. Some could not and had no warning. And some knew, but would not say, for the choice of how to wield it is truly mine. The act of becoming is a defiance of all expectation. I am above. I see where the blade must go. I see through you.
Several mixtures are detailed, each contributing to the final.
—From Codex entry: Way of the ReaverWith the Reaver specialization, your warrior turns the chaos (and pain) of battle to their advantage with a series of powerful (and potentially dangerous) offensive oriented abilities. This is a high-risk/high-reward discipline, since most of the abilities benefit the warrior when their health is low, but the battle prowess given to the warrior makes a Reaver the definitive offensive specialization.
Acquisition
This specialization is obtainable through the Quest Way of the Reaver, obtained from Breaker Thram. After acquiring the following, Breaker Thram will teach the Inquisitor the specialization.
- Writing on reaver methods (available from either Iron Bull or the book merchant in Val Royeaux). Side note: book merchant does not always have book.
- Three infusion primers (found at the East Side Hills, the Flats, and the Black Fens in Crestwood).
- 20 rashvines.
- Materials to infuse dragon's blood.
Talents
Skills | Details | Combat Effects |
---|---|---|
Ring of Pain |
You mark part of the battlefield as yours. Enemies inside the ring take spirit damage while your own attacks hit harder, The more you are hurt, the stronger both effects are.
Torrent of Pain |
While Ring of Pain is active, Devour costs less stamina and has a shorter cooldown rate, and Dragon-Rage costs less of your own health.
Blood Frenzy |
They thought you'd get weaker once they wounded you. They were wrong.
Terrifying Fury |
Your critical strikes have a chance to cause a gory mess and send nearby enemies fleeing in a panic.
Fervor |
When an enemy dies near you, the thrill of death spurs you to hit that much harder.
Scenting Blood |
Being near a badly wounded enemy spurs you into a frenzy, driving you to move faster and giving you a better chance of striking deadly blows.
Devour |
Blood is life. You rip into your enemy, doing damage based on how badly you're wounded and healing yourself. Ring of Pain significantly increases the effect.
Consume |
After you attack with Devour, your next use of Dragon-Rage has a better chance of ripping deeply into your target for a critical strike.
Dragon-Rage |
You launch an attack fueled by your fury, ripping into foes for damage that increases as your own wounds deepen. Ring of Pain significantly increases the effect. You take damage with each swing.
Ravage |
For some, Dragon-Rage is a dangerous ability. For you, it's the only way to fight. You now hit harder and reduce the cooldown time for Devour by 2 seconds with every attack.
Rampage |
You're an unstoppable fury of physical force while this ability is active. Your attacks are harder and faster, and you gain health with each strike. This ability consumes and is powered by Focus.
