Rat is a young surface dwarf mercenary hired by Sutherland to join his company.

Background[]

She doesn't seem to have been on the surface for very long as she's nervous of how high Skyhold is located, a common fear that underground dwarves have with the sky. Rat has been to the Deep Roads; she remembers hiding as darkspawn ended a paragon's line.^[1]

If the Inquisition employs Sutherland and uses him for various operations, he will recruit Rat as his squire and a member of his company.

Involvement[]

When the operation A Crew of Adventurers is completed, Sutherland's company goes missing. Rat was given a map and told to come see the Inquisitor if anything went wrong. The Inquisition may then find and rescue the company in the Storm Coast.

Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights[]

The plot follows BioWare's own canon, meaning it may not follow some of the player's choices in the games.

Callback
While the rest of Sutherland and Company go ahead to Skyhold to investigate the loss of contact with its caretakers and a missing supply caravan, Rat stays back with reinforcements. She arrives in Skyhold just as the Regret demon neutralizes Shayd and Voth through their regrets. After Dagna grabs the demon's attention by attacking him with a jar of bees, Rat leads him on a chase through Skyhold.

She later participates in the fight that successfully sends the demon back to the Fade, dealing the final blow.

Trivia[]

Inquisition game files described Rat as, "Crew Squire Rat", where "Crew" is the name of the party, and "Squire" is her class. "A young squire, uncertain. She's not a fighter, she's a carrier." Accent: American Age: 17 (though age in this instance seems to be more of a hint for the voice actor).
