Playing with Fire is a side quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

A letter found on a corpse said: "Three times around the crowned statue, right hand close enough to brush the stone itself, and the spirits will listen." Doing so will apparently bring back someone's grandfather. The letter writer must really miss him.

Read the letter found on a corpse located in the Avvar Blade Valley. The areas is situated just southwest of Lake Luthias in the Hinterlands.

Walkthrough[]

Statue

Statue with crown with the Landmark marker already in place

The moss-covered statue holding a crown is found in the Avvar Blade Valley, next to the Thelm Gold-Handed, the Tempter landmark. Move around the statue clock-wise three times to spawn the Grandfather's corpse from the nearby grave.

Note: You must stay relatively close to the statue while making your three circles of the statue, otherwise it may not activate. It is helpful to have the rest of the party hold position so that they do not get in the way.

Notes[]

  • There is a logging stand near the corpse.
  • There is a Crystal Grace Crystal Grace node just past the statue.
  • xbox360xbox360 It is relatively easier to circle the stone using the left thumbstick, instead of rotating the camera with the right thumbstick while running.

Bugs[]

  • The "Grandfather" may not spawn for unknown reasons.
    • The "Grandfather" may appear by circling the stone on horseback if doing so on foot triggers the bug.[confirmation needed]
  • If an animal or enemy kills the "Grandfather", the quest will remain unfinished in the quest Journal.
  • After killing the “Grandfather”, the quest does not progress properly due to incapacitating it on the killing blow.
