Only an Echo is a side quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. A distressed villager asks the team to check in on a family that never evacuated to Lavendel despite somehow knowing the Blight was coming.
Acquisition[]
This quest can be acquired by speaking to the distressed villager in Lavendel, or by reading one of the family's notes found in the Flooded Farmlands area of the Hossberg Wetlands.
Walkthrough[]
A family never made it to Lavendel Village. Many perished in the blight surgeābut was their fate that simple?
Investigate a family's disappearance[]
Head to the Flooded Farmlands area and find four notes belonging to the missing family.
- The first note can be found inside the blight-ridden house after blight has been cleared from the first room.
- The second note can be found in another section of the house that is currently blocked by blight. Use a ranged attack to destroy the blight boil in the next room to activate the blight currently blocking the path, then destroy that blight to access the other side of the house. Neve's power can be used to open a chest in the first room before using the ladder to reach the second story with the note.
- The third note can be found laying on the ground next to a well. After reading the note, a voice from the nearby well repeat's a word in Rook's voice back to them.
- The fourth note can be found laying on the ground in a shallow hole next to a shovel and lantern.
Interact with the well after all notes are found to seal the well up. Speak to the destressed villager back in Lavendel to complete the quest.
Rewards[]
Completing the quest yields:
- +400 XP
- 200
- 5 Fade-Touched Ore
- +50 Grey Wardens Strength
- Increased bond with party companions
Results[]
Did the Voss family in the Hossberg Wetlands know about the blight surge before it happened? And if so, what happened to them? Unanswered questions leave friends with uncertainty, but learning the truth would involve a trip to now-dangerous farmlands.
A dangerous entity living in the bottom of a well manipulated a local farm family, slowly taking over their minds. Though the family was lost, the well has been sealed, preventing the entity from harming anyone else. At least for now.
Note texts[]
Notes[]
- The entity can be dealt with later in The Crossroads after the well is sealed up, by jumping down the now open well in the snowy Heights of Athim island. However, there is no way to inform the residents the threat is now gone and the journal entry will still show that it has not been killed off.
