Nalthur of House Kanarek[1] is the leader of a regiment of the Legion of the Dead.
Involvement
Nalthur's legionnaire unit encounters Prince Maric, Loghain, Katriel and Rowan as they are making their way from Ortan Thaig to Gwaren through the Deep Roads. Nalthur and his legionnaires save the party from a pack of darkspawn. Nalthur is initially reluctant to offer further aid but Maric is eventually able to successfully persuade Nalthur to lead his unit to the surface to help against the Orlesian occupation. Nalthur in return extracts a promise from Maric that he will commend their actions in Orzammar and that he will return every dead dwarf to be buried within the Stone.
The Legionnaires, led by Nalthur, fight alongside the rebels in the Second Battle of Gwaren and at the Battle of River Dane where Ferelden's liberation is finally secured. However Nalthur and all the legionnaires under his command are killed despite the major rebel victory.
King Maric would later keep his promise by visiting Orzammar and praising the efforts of Nalthur and the Legion of the Dead to King Endrin Aeducan.
