This is a guide to making gold in Dragon Age II.
General Tips
- Sell all potions you obtain: The less you have in your inventory, the more they are likely to drop.
Runes of Fortune
Act 1 Rune of Fortune Guide
Take the following steps immediately upon reaching Kirkwall to maximize the gold you get from each corpse or chest. Note: it is advised you do not loot any corpses or open any chests until these steps are completed. Gold drops are determined upon looting, so returning to look later will result in more gold obtained.
- Talk to both groups hiring you in the Gallows courtyard
- Take the Merchant's bribe during Athenril's quest (2g)
- Complete Meeran's quest by killing Friedrich (5g)
- Visit Black Emporium and buy the Rune of Fortune and the Design: Rune of Fortune
- Visit Lowtown Apparel Shop and Buy Varric's Armor Upgrade
- Visit Sandal in Hightown and enchant Varric's armor with the Rune of Fortune (+10% coin drop)
- Visit The Hanged Man and listen to Varric's lead on Anders (unlocks ???)
- Visit Gamlen's House and read the letter to get the Birthright quest
- Visit Darktown and complete the Birthright quest (10g, unlocks The Bone Pit (quest))
- Visit Gamlen's House and read the letter to get the The Bone Pit (quest)
- Visit Hightown and talk to Hubert to update The Bone Pit (quest)
- Visit The Bone Pit and fight the first set of dragons to obtain Lyrium
- Visit Sundermount and complete Long Way Home, obtaining Silverite (triggers Blackpowder Promise encounter)
- Visit The Wounded Coast to trigger Blackpowder Promise encounter (be sure to obtain Embrium)
- Visit The Wounded Coast and into the Tal-Vashoth Cavern to the Officer's Room
- Obtain Silverite in the Officer's Room and Lyrium down the stairs from it
- Either have Lion of Orlais Shield or purchase Lady Rosamund's Bulwark from The Black Emporium
- Visit Hightown and Worthy to purchase 2-3 Rune of Fortune for your shield
- Visit Hightown and Sandal to enchant your shield with the Rune of Fortune (+3.75% coin drop per rune)
