Lysette's dialogue includes her conversation with her fellow templar Mattrin and the Inquisitor.
Lysette's conversation with Mattrin[]
- Mattrin: See reason, Lysette! We cannot stay here!
- Lysette: Why not?
- Mattrin: Because we're templars!
- Lysette: What does that even mean anymore?
- That we splinter and fight amongst ourselves instead of protecting the mages? (until completion of The Threat Remains)
- That we declare our independence and march off to some hold, and do... nothing? (between The Threat Remains and In Your Heart Shall Burn)
- Mattrin: Better that than stay here with this Inquisition!
- Lysette: You're awfully quick to dismiss the people who saved your life, Mattrin.
Talking to Lysette in Haven[]
- Lysette: You are the one they're calling the Herald.
(Yes, I am)
- Inquisitor: It rather rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?
- Lysette: No.
(Is that a problem?)
- Inquisitor: You don't sound happy about that.
- Lysette: I'm not.
(Against my will.)
- Inquisitor: If you know a way to make them stop, I'm all ears.
- Lysette: I don't. These things have a way of taking on their own life, but I'm glad it has not run to your head.
- Lysette: I did not join the Order to adjust my faith so easily, but I appreciate what the Inquisition is trying to do, and your role in it. Though you may find not many templars do. We're a distrustful lot by nature.
───────
(Joining the Order.)
- Inquisitor: How did you come to be a Templar?
- Lysette: It seemed the right thing to do. My family are tradesfolk in Denerim. I could have become a cobbler like my father, but this seemed better. It's a chance to uphold the Chantry's laws and help the mages through a troubled time.
(Templars don't help anything.)
- Inquisitor: How can you see Templars as anything but oppressors?
- Lysette: Some people would ask how I could see mages as anything but unstable weapons. What you forget, when you ask that question, is that they are people. As perfect as they are flawed.
(You're an idealist.)
- Inquisitor: Not every Templar feels that way.
- Lysette: I know. Power can corrupt. It's a delicate balance.
- Lysette: One person trying to do something can make a difference. You should keep that in mind, Herald.
───────
(Tell me about the templars.)
- Inquisitor: I'd like your take on the Templar Order.
- Lysette: It's a shadow of what it was. Where once we both protected all people from the dangers of magic, we now posture and grab at power. One day, I hope the Circles are again sanctuaries where mages can practice their craft.
(You're staying here in Haven?)
- Inquisitor: You're not going to rejoin the Order?
- Lysette: When the temple went up, your forces rescued those few of us still alive. My life is a debt I intend to repay, however I can.
(What happened at the Conclave?)
- Inquisitor: Do you have any idea what caused the explosion?
- Lysette: No, I'm just a recruit. Belief and faith doesn't get you closer to the important meetings. Though that distance did save my life.
───────
- Inquisitor: I will talk to you later.
- Lysette: Walk in the Maker's grace.
───────
(After Champions of the Just)
- Lysette: Commander Cullen took me aside to explain what happened at the Redoubt. Disturbing news, but I'm glad you were there to intervene. Thank you.
